Simpler iPaper 1.1
This version adds significant feature enhancements, including compatibility with the WordPress.com embed code that Scribd provides on every document page.
In this version, a new ‘scribd’ shortcode was added with the ‘key’ rather than ‘accesskey’ parameter so that one can copy the embed code without looking around for the access key.
Simpler iPaper 1.0.3b
This release is non-critical and only fixes the readme.txt file.
New users are encouraged to download this release, and old users on any version before 1.0.3 is encouraged to upgrade to this version.
Beginning with this release, future release notifications from this blog will have download graphics. Download graphics with a green arrow indicate stable releases, whereas download graphics with orange arrows indicate critical releases. Old deprecated versions that are known to be problematic do not show the graphic.
Remember, the Simpler iPaper project on Google Code has a wiki page for the changelog that better explains the version numbers and the versions over time.
Simpler iPaper 1.0.3
In this release, the readme file more thoroughly explains the procedures for using the plugin, and a changelog has been added. Inside the plugin, the metadata has been updated to add a link to this blog.
This plugin has been tested with the most recent version of WordPress, version 2.6.3.
Do not download this version. It has been replaced by 1.0.3b.
Conversion: a possible feature?
The Scribd API provides a JavaScript-based method of “converting” supported documents on a Web page to Scribd iPaper and replacing links to said documents with the embedded iPaper versions. This is the tool called “QuickSwitch“.
Our Simpler iPaper plugin may be capable of adding this functionality to blogs, although such a new feature would necessitate an options page, heavier code, database/options table access, and a major version number change.
Although this is certainly an interesting idea and a possibility, is it something that should be considered as a feature of Simpler iPaper? I can certainly see uses of such a feature.
Find us on the WordPress directory

Hello world!
The purpose of this site is to have a place where the “Simpler iPaper” plugin and other (future) plugins in the “Simpler Plugins” line can be distributed, can be documented, and can be discussed.
The development for the Simpler iPaper plugin is currently going on at Google Code. Find some bugs, fix some problems, or join the project.

I’ve also been considering not using WordPress.com for this blog, and instead using one of my own domains (or my PersonalLog blog hosting service, which has a name not suited to plugin development). However, it looks like I’ll be on WordPress.com for a while, at least until something urges me to move away from it.
