Overview

For over 30 years, SIM Indy has brought together senior IT leaders across Central Indiana. We serve as a local chapter of the national Society for Information Management (SIM), a respected organization with members from Fortune 500 companies, startups, academia, and public service.

SIM Indy is more than a professional group: it’s a collaborative, leadership-focused community where members share ideas, solve challenges, and make meaningful contributions to the region’s technology landscape. We are committed to:

  • Building trusted peer relationships across industries
  • Supporting members through career transitions and leadership growth
  • Engaging with students and young professionals through mentorship, outreach, and scholarships
  • Advancing dialogue around tech innovation, security, and enterprise strategy

In my private and professional lives, I have joined but a handful of organizations. SIM is one of the best because it offers a variety of opportunities to interact with other professionals in a non-leadership, non-competitive setting. This allows for building relationships founded on shared experiences without the “draw” of having to lead or mentor someone in the moment. As relationships are built, we can encourage and exhort each other to level up our professional (and personal) performance. SIM is a worthy investment of my time.

Marty Dickerson, Director of IT — American Art Clay Co. Inc.

The Indianapolis chapter of SIM has been a great place for me to form trusted relationships that have helped me and my company. We’ve altered approaches, adopted new technologies, and changed processes based on things I’ve learned from others in the chapter. Networking with others that are leading their IT organizations and shaping their businesses has allowed me to be better than I would have been without this brain trust. Being part of the national SIM has also been beneficial and allowed me to form relationships with others beyond the local IT community. This has been the best professional organization for me in my career.

Jerrod Carter, Chief Information Officer — Wheaton World Wide Moving

As a cybersecurity professional, being part of SIM Indy has been an incredibly rewarding experience. Our monthly breakfast meetings provide a unique opportunity to connect with fellow IT professionals in the area, exchange real-world insights, and openly discuss the challenges we face in our roles. I especially value the chance to understand how others balance strong security controls with the demands of IT operations. I’ve gained valuable tips and tricks for working with vendors, managing teams, and adopting new technologies. The group is friendly, collaborative, and always willing to share ideas, making every conversation mutually beneficial. I’ve also been introduced to emerging technologies and enjoyed thought-provoking discussions about industry headlines. SIM Indy is truly a place where relationships and knowledge grow together.
