Guys! Not only did Beth put out "Hellhound On My Trail," which, aside from being a totally cool story in its own right, is pretty much Eau de Dean Winchester, they did a full Sleepy Hollow series. I have been petitioning for one for at least three years now! :)
I pretty much went decant crazy, as spending money is going to be a bit conservative until my next update. I am SURE I am going to love several of them and wind up with a bunch of bottles-- especially for the Sleepy Hollow art!
Anyhow, this is what I signed up for:
Hellhound on My Trail:: August 16th marks the day the Devil came to call on the King of the Delta Blues. Bay rum, bourbon vanilla, galangal, hyssop, High John the Conqueror root, tobacco, life everlasting, and brimstone. I'm guessing something boozy and smoky with some grit. Not my usual thing, but dude. With the whole Supernatural connotation in my brain, how could I not?
To Autumn::Mist and mellow fruitfulness: mist-swirled, moss-covered bark and dry red leaves, apple pulp and knotty galangal, with poppy juice and nutmeat. To be honest, this doesn't sound terribly different from the other twentythousand Autumn scents they've put out, but it doesn't have any dealbreaker notes, so I figured I'd try it.
Harvest Moon 2008::This Harvest lunacy combines the autumnal scents of balsam fir, cedar, juniper berry, clove, saffron, damson plum, sage, black cherry, and fennel with the crushed wine grapes of Dionysus and Janus' lingum aloes. I never know what the Moons will smell like; this one looks like it'll be grapey.
Brom Bones::The butchest, manliest of musks covered in well-worn leather. I'm sold on the leather and am soon to be slathering this on my boyfriend.
Ichabod Crane::Dusty black wool, tea with cream, black pepper, muguet, and beeswax candle drippings. I am all about the tea and the beeswax.
Fearful Pleasure::Dried orange peels floating in simmering cider, roasted apples, smoldering firewood, chimney smoke, sassafras beer, warm hawthorn wood, and oakmoss. I'm hoping this one smells like a pomander; something warm and snuggly to dab into my favorite sweaters.
Gunpowder::Carrot peelings, hay, chaff, molasses, maple oats, red apples, stable wood, and musk. I got this one just for the sheer "wtf" factor.
The Hessian of the Hollow::Grave moss and bone-white sandalwood, with vetiver, gunpowder, artillery shrapnel, and blood. Again, not my usual thing. But DUDE. It's the HEADLESS HORSEMAN.
Katrina Van Tassel::White rose and honeyed cream. Something tells me that this one will be the runaway hit of the series.
The Witching Time of Night::Moonflower, night-blooming cereus, white hellebore, English ivy, monkshood, angel's trumpet, oleander, and eastern hemlock. I rarely do florals, as they tend to go soapy on me. This one looks like something I could wear, though-- all pale white blooms.
The Shattered Pumpkin::Soil-covered crushed pumpkin, water-weeds, saddle-leather, and pine pitch. My lone pumpkin blend this year! None of the patch really appealed to me; I'll wait for reviews on them. I like my pumpkins earthy and resin-y, and this was the closest I got. Considering I still have a lot of Pumpkin Queen and Punkie Night left, I am not sad about this.
I also want to try A Blade of Grass, Autumn Coolness, Mictecacihuatl, and Sticky Pillowcase, but I had to narrow the list somewhat. Eee, I can't wait to read reviews from will-call!
Which reminds me! I owe mangofandango decants, and I really ought to go through my massive stock of BPAL to see what can't be bartered or gifted. I had a spill in my container which ruined a LOT of labels, so they're not so much fit for sale anymore, but it's still a lot of smelly that I can't wear myself!
In other news, after I got one commission piece done last night, I was SUPER productive. I got three pairs of earrings done, a necklace set, and a bracelet that made me think of lapetiteflower. It's got a nice chunky, layered look with night-hued flowers, silver pearl, and Czech glass on gunmetal. This weekend? Nonstop shop work. I love that in a way, it feels like a vacation. That's when you know it's the right work for you.
