Fragrance Oil: Hawthorn, fig, myrrh, carnation, toasted almond, red and green apple, patchouli, wood smoke, and Indian musk.
I have tried just about every single one of the Lab's Autumn-themed blends. This one OWNS. It's not foody sweet (though that's great sometimes). It's not vetiver-laced leaves and musty. It starts out all sweet red apple and fig-- light, like the air in an orchard. With just a tiny bit of spice, almost residual, and the creaminess of almond, though it's not at all a strong note. As it warms up on my skin it gets woodier and a little more smoky. I'm pleasantly surprised this wasn't all patchouli-palooza. Really evocative without ever being overdone-- this is not country kitchen candle, nor is it generic "fallen leaf." It really does capture the scent of the air when the season shifts to Autumn.
Atmospheric Spray: Fig leaf, patchouli, black tea, and bonfire smoke.
I wasn't as big a fan of this one. It smelled very vetiver-y, though that wasn't listed in the notes-- very much like the "October" oil released last year. It smells like burning leaves, and while that's not a bad scent when you're standing near a real bonfire, it's not a great room scent. This is pretty masculine and on the bitter side. Also: STRONG. Two sprays and my room was scented for two days. I will say that this was not at all a generic or cheap scent you'd find at any Pier One or Yankee Candle-- there is artistry in it, a very true-to-life scent. It's just not for me. Once I decant a little for my swapper, this one might get traded for another one of the sprays.
To be fair, I haven't tested this in the bath quite yet... just a little on my skin (like I would use a massage oil). It's much sweeter than the other two counterparts. The molasses note and cinnamon predominate, tempered by the earthiness of the sage and the resinous warmth of the myrrh. This one is a winner!
mangofandango-- I gotta find the right vials, and then your decants will be off!
