The bad: For one, the forecast this weekend went from 65 and sunny to 50 and scattered showers. Gulp. For two, Ariel is sick. For three, my throat started swelling last night. Am staying in bed lots and drinking tea & broth lots. Have sent husband on Tulsi Tea mission on his lunchbreak, and Flissy is bringing a coupla bags of chai. The timing of this blows-- and it's because things were really warm and lovely, then changed to cold and brisk overnight. That always gets me. Good energy would be appreciated. I would rather my face not be all swollen up like Bear Grylls on my wedding day.

The good: I got my care package swap from fieryredhead. As she is a fellow tribal dancer, it had a buncha costumey bits in it-- beaded rounds to sew to a belt (and I do have one naked banjara belt), yarnfalls for a costume, a black glittery hairflower, a big 'ol ring. Plus some sparkly bindi bits. There was also an oil diffuser with two scents for diffusing, some TAL decants, garnets and pearls for crafting, and a piece of sparkly indian textile.

YAY, thank you! I am excited!

Also, I have Olive laying, both paws on my shoulder, snorgling my face. Awww, kitty love in original New Mexico flavor.

Today: brief rehearsal, then rest, fluids, rest, and more fluids.

Science fiction is a very male form of fiction. Considerably more men than women are interested in reading and watching science fiction. This is no surprise. Science fiction traditionally is about men doing things, inventing new technologies, exploring new worlds, making new scientific discoveries, terraforming planets, etc. Many men working in the fields of science, engineering, and technology have cited science fiction (such as the original Star Trek) for inspiring them when they were boys to establish careers in these fields.

The current generation of boys will not have this inspiration from science fiction, at least from science fiction on television and in movies. That’s because there is an undeclared war on real science fiction on TV and in movies.
Ladies, your cooties are ruining sci-fi. Science Fiction is a man's domain (despite the fact that Mary Shelley in effect invented it), and any attempt to have yourselves acknowledged as, you know, existing, or working for more realistic depictions of women therein is emasculating and weakening the genre. Your liking sci-fi means more "relationship drama" and that little boys will no longer grow up to be scientists! Also, gay people are icky.

For real. Somebody said this. And he has a handful of dedicated supporters with poor reading comprehension skills. Shocking.

I haven't heard anything so ridiculous since the last time Dirk Benedict started running his yap.

Also, appropriate icon is appropriate.
