I have so much on my mind today.
Last night, my mother called. Someone tried to break into the house. Again. This makes the fifth time. Each time, the perp has tried to enter through my younger sister's window, on the first floor of the house. We know this because the screen has been cut twice, and on two seperate occasions, someone has tried to remove the safety locks that keep the windows from being opened more than an inch. Last night at about 10, my mother was getting ready for bed when she heard strange sounds coming from Andi's room. Adrian (my stepfather) had gone to pick Matt up from work, so my mom and Andi were alone in the house. Seeing as Andi was already asleep, she went in to check. Sure enough, the window was up, but this time, there was a flashlight shining in. She called to Andrea, who woke up asking if there was lightning outside. Andi's a heavy sleeper, and very groggy when she first wakes up. My mom got Andi out of the room, and then called the police. The perp then went around the house, banging on windows and the outside walls, presumably to scare the fuck out of them.
The police got there three minutes late. There are obvious fingerprints on the glass of my sister's window, but they didn't dust. I told my mother to call back and insist that the windows be dusted. Also, have those fingerprints cross-checked with the child sex offense registry. I don't think that it's a burglary attempt, at this point. If that were so, they'd come during the day, when no one is around. This is terrifying.
I don't know what's to be done. The cops are proving ineffective. Short of installing a surveillance system that my parents can't afford, there's little I think they can do. When I come home, Andi will be taking the upstairs room. In fact, for the love of God and all that is holy, I don't understand why in the fuck my parents haven't insisted on her staying in an upstairs bedroom in the first place. There are no ledges, so it'd be extremely hard to reach without a ladder, and even so, the ladder would have to be placed right outside my parents' bedroom anyhow. Ugh.
So. That said. I had my last performance with the Madrigals last night. I enjoyed being a part of the group so much-- even though the schedule got a mite ridiculous towards the end. Yes, there will be CDs available, and when I get word in a few months, I'll post all pertinent info. As for other wrap-up activities, Margie and her Merry Band of Freaks are going out for ice cream later. Also, as a part of a neat tradition, Skyler, his mom, and his sister took me out to dinner last night. All's well that ends with tiramisu, I say. I have thoughts on Skyler in general, but I think I need to piece them out a bit more. I'll talk about that some other time.
Oh, shit. I have an astronomy test tonight. Whoops. It slipped my mind entirely. After class, I have to work on a presentation and then catch up with last night's Veronica Mars. I'm not ready to be out of college yet.
And finally,
tennyo, I got your package! Wow, darlin'. You are so very generous. Cherry Tree Lane is fantastic, and I expect to be ordering some soon. God, I love that cherry blossom scent. 13 Rabbits is minty chocolatey goodness, and you're right, Oshun is just so very pretty and feminine. I especially want to thank you for the samples of AOBS & Herbalism-- my skin has absolutely been freaking out lately, and I'm definitely in need of some soothing herbs. You rock, darling. Thank you.
My skin has been thinking I'm fourteen or so lately. Maybe it's stress. Maybe it's that I fell asleep with my makeup on once this week. Either way, I don't like it. I have an überzit on my jaw, and I am not happy at all-- not to mention general blotchiness. Bah!
