A Back-Order is when a product is temporarily out of stock, but customers can still purchase it. This is common in both online and physical retail when the demand for a product exceeds the available inventory or there is a delay in production or supply. The Back order module has 2 tabs: General and Style.
1. General #
1.1 Enable Back Order?: Toggle to switch on the enable back order option.
1.2 Backorder Limit: Set the maximum number of items a customer can place on backorder. Leave blank for no limit.
1.3 Expected Availability Date: Fill in the estimated availability date of the back-ordered product. 1.4 General Availability Message for Back-Order: Customize the message that appears for items on back-order. Use the {availability_date} placeholder to dynamically insert the estimated restock date. For example, you might write: “This item is currently on back-order and is expected to be available on {availability_date}. We appreciate your patience and will notify you when it ships.”
