Set the Scene
Imagine yourself at the theater. You’re settled into your seat, the orchestra begins to play, the lights go low, and the curtain opens..
You’re immediately transported to another time and place—sometimes another world entirely. Your eyes move across the stage, taking in the size, the surfaces, the details. In an instant, you’re pulled in and invited to be part of the story.
ShopBot is celebrating the people who create, build, and fabricate stage design and exhibits around the globe and the visual stories they tell. From design to fabrication, ShopBot CNC machines are at the heart of precise machining of parts, props, signs, and scenic decor.
ShopBot is part of that workflow, helping teams move from concept to construction with speed and flexibility. But the real magic comes from the people using them—the technicians and builders who combine digital tools with hands-on craftsmanship. Check out the collection of universities, theaters, and exhibit companies that would like you to experience their creations made with ShopBot CNC in the video below!
At USITT and in scenic shops everywhere, we’re constantly inspired by the ingenuity of these makers. Their work reminds us that behind every environment, every illusion, and every stage moment, is a team building the story. If you attend USITT 2026 in Long Beach, CA, visit ShopBot at booth 715. We’ll have demos running on the ShopBot Desktop MAX ATC and plenty of sample CNC projects inspired by our amazing theater and exhibit community.
Stories in Materials
Visual storytellers shape a variety of materials quickly to meet changing creative needs—often on tight schedules.
Foam becomes landscapes, stone walls, or ships at sea. Plywood becomes staircases, balconies, and towering backdrops. Acrylic and layered panels become light, texture, and detail that bring the whole scene to life. CNC machines bring these elements to life.
