Edited to add my own thoughts (not part of the original reddit call for action): And if you do not feel like taking a total break and perhaps want just a trial separation or couple's counseling, then perhaps consider Black March Lite 2.0 = spend, but spend money on those content creators and independent retailers who came out against SOPA/PIPA. And tell them why you're buying their products in March. There are many of them.
And for those who favor the more targeted boycott, you can find info here. But no matter which, you can participate and you can tailor your level of participation. We have the tools, the will and the strength to take a stand.

Black March - Thursday March 1st 2012 to Saturday March 31st 2012
With the continuing campaigns for internet-censoring litigation such as SOPA and PIPA, and the closure of sites like Megaupload under allegations of 'piracy' and 'conspiracy' the time has come to take a stand against music, film, and media companies' lobbyists.
The only way is to hit them where it hurts.
Their profit margins.
March 2012 is the end of the First Quarter in economic reports world wide.
Do not buy a single record. Do not download a single song, legally or illegally. Do not go to see a single film in cinemas, or download a copy. Do not buy a DVD in the stores. Do not buy a videogame. Do not buy a single book or magazine.
Wait the four weeks to buy them in April: see a film later, etc... Holding out for just four weeks, maximum, will leave a gaping hole in media companies profits for the first quarter, an economic hit which will in turn be observed by governments world wide as stocks and shares will blip from a large enough loss of incomes. This action will give a statement of intent:
"We will not tolerate the Media Industries' lobbying for legislation that will censor the internet."

What is the best movie of 2010?
How to Train Your Dragon. By far. That is all.
For my publication design class, we need to design a 16-page book (including front and back covers). And it needs to take a total of 3 weeks to design. And my school just lost its stock images account with Getty, and I'm a terrible photographer. Do you guys have any advice for brainstorming? Or maybe ideas? I'm not a terrible illustrator, but I'm not sure if I can manage 16 pages in 3 weeks...Hmmm....
Here are the ideas my teacher recommends:
-A Week in the Life of...
-Politically INcorrect
-Life in the Big City
-Blind Ambition...
-You Think That's Bad...
-Trash Versus Treasures
-A Fork in the Road...
-Did You Know?...
I need some help in getting my creative juices flowing. :/

...but I don't want to go to temple.
I'm selfish.
I have a superiority complex.
I think too much.
I speak out of turn.
I'm rude.
I can be hurtful.
I don't give people the benefit of the doubt.
I'm judgmental.
I'm racist.
I'm sexist.
I'm superficial.
I'm impatient.
I take things for granted.
I don't respect my parents as much as I should.
I can be ungrateful.
I'm disrespectful.
I'm not as open to new thoughts and ideas as I should be.
I waste time.
I don't show enough appreciation for the sacrifices others have made for me.
I don't make enough of an effort to carry on the traditions and cultures that preceded me.
I think too highly of myself.
There's more, but I can't think of them now. I'm going to make a sincere, legitimate effort to be a better person this year.

Does anyone know where I can look into getting a custom-made Halloween costume done? Anyone got mad sewing skills, and the time? I'm willing to pay, obviously. <3
Wow, it's been ages since I've made an actual post about my life, but it's also been a long time since I've had something to write about other than school or work.
School is going great, I just have (pretty much) one week left, and it's going to be very light compared to the past few weeks. I'm flying back home to Chicago on Tuesday, December 16th (OMG HOME *freaks out*) and I'm very much looking forward to it.
Work is going well. For the past few months I've been designed exhibit boards to go up on display at the Massachusetts State House for the award event the university has for community-centric professors. It was a LOT of work, but I'm really proud of the results. We took the displays down on Black Friday, but there was some follow-up work to do, and now I'm back to working on little bits here and there.
Wow, I started this entry like 5 hours ago or something. Anyway, here's the dish on ( My Weekend of Crazy.Collapse )
In conclusion, I think I'm done with dating for a while.
Also, this wasn't so much about my weekend as it was about the date, but it's long enough as it is and I do have work to do. Just so you don't worry, parts of the weekend were far worse than that, but parts were also far better. Hence the subject of the post.
More later. Love you all!

For one of my design classes, I need to design a menu for a fake restaurant. I need suggestions for the name of the place. Under the cut is the complete menu (compliments of the Cheesecake Factory). Basically, this is a bar that also serves a variety of appetizers and desserts. I want it to be modern and flashy, very attractive to mostly younger age groups, but fancy enough not to be for drunk college students. Let's say the target age group is between 25-45. I NEED YOUR NAME SUGGESTIONS PEOPLE!
