Events, Classes & Workshops
We look forward to welcoming you to our warm and friendly studio at the Southampton Sewing Hub, near the centre of Southampton. Whether you’ve never touched a sewing machine before, need a refresher, or want to perfect your skills we are here for you. We welcome those who experience disability and have an adjustable table and ‘start/stop’ button control machine.
We have accessible toilets, a shared kitchen with a fridge (if you wish to store some goodies), and we have a variety of hot and cold drinks and biscuits. So you don’t need to bring anything – unless otherwise stated.
Classes are small to ensure everyone gets the help they need. Please note; we will be having regular classes and booking will be essential. If you wish to book a group of sessions you will be provided with a locker to store any unfinished items so you can work on them when you next come.

NB. Occasionally classes may not run during school holidays. Our sewing circle classes are 18+. Our beginners classes are +12 with adult supervision required for under 18s. Buy four discount excludes Crafting Corner.
Special Events
We regularly collaborate with local artisans to support learning new and exiting skills at our Sewing Hub. We also host a ‘Crafting Corner’ on the last Saturday of the month where visitors can learn ribbon work and many other crafts from our tutor Shabnam. The Bowie Experience
21st February 2026 | 2:00pm - 4:30pm
Costume maker to Laurence of The Bowie Experience since 2005, Amy Knight (Bournemouth University) has created 25 David Bowie replica costumes (and counting) for live stage performances over the last 20 years. For the first time a selection of these costumes will be on display at Southampton Sewing Hub with the opportunity to see up close how they have been created. Amy will be answering questions and talking through some of the items with Suzie including photos and video to show the costumes in action.
‘The Bowie Experience’ regularly perform in the South of England and beyond.
This is an amazing opportunity for budding seamstresses, tailors, costume makers and students to get an insight into what it’s really like to source, design and make and fit to one person!
