09:45 am: What D&D character are you?
I Am A: Neutral Good Human Wizard (6th Level)

Ability Scores:

Strength-14

Dexterity-14

Constitution-13

Intelligence-15

Wisdom-18

Charisma-13

Alignment:
Neutral Good A neutral good character does the best that a good person can do. He is devoted to helping others. He works with kings and magistrates but does not feel beholden to them. Neutral good is the best alignment you can be because it means doing what is good without bias for or against order. However, neutral good can be a dangerous alignment because it advances mediocrity by limiting the actions of the truly capable.

Race:
Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.

Class:
Wizards are arcane spellcasters who depend on intensive study to create their magic. To wizards, magic is not a talent but a difficult, rewarding art. When they are prepared for battle, wizards can use their spells to devastating effect. When caught by surprise, they are vulnerable. The wizard's strength is her spells, everything else is secondary. She learns new spells as she experiments and grows in experience, and she can also learn them from other wizards. In addition, over time a wizard learns to manipulate her spells so they go farther, work better, or are improved in some other way. A wizard can call a familiar- a small, magical, animal companion that serves her. With a high Intelligence, wizards are capable of casting very high levels of spells.

06:30 pm: A test i just took on OkCupid

Your result for What's up your ass?...

A Chia Pet

You have a chia pet up your ass!

This isn't so bad. It's easily removable, but would you even want to? It doesn't get you to be overly frustrated at anything. You tend to place blame where it belongs. If you're mad at a person, it's because they stuck a Chia Pet up your ass. If you're giving yourself a hard time, then it's because you stuck the Chia Pet up your ass. All in all, you have whatever should be up your ass for the given circumstance.

Take What's up your ass? at OkCupid

That was the single most hilarious personality test i can remember taking. I give it a 5d12, the dice give it 42, cool

02:27 pm: That time of year again
I know it's been awhile since i posted (i regret nothing) but now i feel the need to stretch my typing (and writing) muscles, as once again i'm seriously thinking about participating in NaNoWriMo (very stupid abbreviation, but it does the job). Was that too many parenthesis for one sentence, do you think i'm going to similarly abuse the english language in my Novel?? You bet. I think i'm going to write a time travel story (one of my favorite genre tropes). I recently read "The Time Machine" by H. G. Wells. An excellent story and one that is impossible to emulate (as many Hollywood directors can attest) so don't make comparisons with it, in fact just forget i posted it other than to say it was good, ok... ok. I want the time machine to have a crew of four; pilot, navigator, engineer, and something else, probably copilot (so the pilot can have someone to argue/nap/surf the internet with). The story need a Denis Nedry character, probably working at ground control, and a female crewman (crew person??) who's a gun nut. Time and setting are going to be future/space age, probably using one of the moons around Uranus (pronounced -ooRAnoos-) to launch the time machine. If i need any tech specs they will probably come from D20 Future (published by Wizards of the Coast) like guns, travel times etc.

Good luck to any one else involved in this odd venture!

06:55 pm: Mac-Daddie
I'm on the iMac for the first time in just about forever, it had developed a tendancy to shut off randomly and think its '69. A while back i mentioned this to a co-worker and he said it might be the battery, i kept this advice in the back of my mind and today decided to do something about it. It requires long nimble fingers but i was up to the task. so far so good.

the Mac gets 4d12 - 18

in other news The Little Red Wagon failed emissions today (insuficient study time on the freeway probably) so i took her to Midland Auto (those guys rock) and Dave said his emission guy wouldn't be in until next week so now i have to wait (sucks). This is why i always do this early in the month.

Smogging the car gets 2d4 - 4

05:37 pm: I got Call of Cthulu D20
Yes its D20 and could never live up to Mr. Lovecrafts ideals but it is very cool and might just add flavor to any one of the myriad campaign ideas i have rattling around in my noggin. Ravensfae, the "Hounds of Tindalos" are gross. "Nightgaunts" are very cool. The magic system is very cool, no level limits, no memorization, once you learn a spell you can use it whenever you want, but it will probably drive you nuts as it slowley weakens you, very cool. It has a few pages for D&D 3e conversion so to me it's universally adaptable.

06:29 pm: Cafe' Review
We went to the Herban Cafe' today completely at random (drove down 6th ave till we saw something that looked interesting and was open on Sunday). I had a Bison burger, Goober had a Cheese Burger, and Ulandria had the "Prime Rib Dip". All was excellent and unlike most current resturaunts the portions weren't excessive (i get kinda tired of that) just reasonable. The standout however was the fries (or frites as per the menu), they were seasoned with rosmary, garlic and possibly pepper, they were ugly but hot damn yummy. A little pricey, but worth it.

10:33 pm: Seven ways to win
Ulandria suggested i post on the new addenda to the "Seven Deadly Sins" that has been mentioned on the news recently, so here goes.

First of all, you cannot add to the seven deadly sins, its seven, not eight nine or ten, certainly not forteen. Pope Greg said seven, Dante' Algeiri agreed and thats it.

Secondly lets look at these new sins (i got this list off Wikipedia)

[Environmental pollution]; It's wrong but is it a sin, seems to me like an extension of Sloth, ie. too lazy to pick up after yourself on a large scale.

[Genetic manipulation]; playing god, hubris, Pride, the first sin and all that. However that is the kind of thing could eventually help GooberGuy or possibly give me super powers, so i have a hard time being against it (hell, i'm not :P).

[Accumulating excessive wealth]; Its Greed, this is nothing new.

[Inflicting poverty]; i would hate to walk through that ring of Baator.

[Drug trafficking and consumption]; the first goes back to Greed, the second sounds like Glutteny. But still "drugs bad" really cannot be said enough i guess.

[Morally debatable experiments]; Could you be any more vague here, how about "being mean to the wrong people"

[Violation of fundamental rights of human nature]; Okay, you can be more vague, i stand corrected

not listed here but heard on the news [Pedephilia]; it falls under Lust and i think they just mentioned it to deflect some bad publicity.
Ulandria says there might be another, if you can think of it, post, or just share your thoughts.

02:44 am: A moment of silence
This was posted on Brunchma earlier today.

Do not stand at my grave and weep,

I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow,

I am your armor's glint on snow.

I am the dragon fire burning grain,

I am the creative seed in your brain.

When you awake in tavern’s hush,

I am the drunken morning rush,

Of adventurers off to glory,

The players' laughter when they figure out the story.

Do not stand at my grave and cry,

I am not there,

I did not die.

RIP Gary.

Gary Gygax died today, he had been suffering from heart problems of late, hopefully more news will be forthcoming.
