If you worked for a newspaper, which section of the paper would you like to write for, and why?
Great question. I actually do work for a newspaper. I am a feature writer. I cover meetings, write special articles, it's different. You aren't always doing the same thing. I love the challenge of not knowing what to expect when going on a story.
What's the first thing you do when you wake up?
That's easy. The first thing I do is go to the bathroom. It doesn't matter if I've been asleep all night or just an hour, I always have to go to the bathroom.

How would you describe the last decade in one sentence?
What an insanely crazy ride.
Do you prefer telling people what gifts you want to receive or being surprised?
I'm probably in the minority on this one because I would rather give people a list to choose from. Let me explain my reasoning - due to finances, this year our family did practical gifts of things like clothing, socks, underwear, stuff that we need and will get the most use out of. If I don't tell Rob what I want, I won't get anything, let's just be honest here. He admits it too. Sure, there's no real surprise in it, but I'm almost 35, Christmas really lost a lot of it's magic for me years ago when my Dad passed and my grandmother passed.
If we had kids, it'd be different, Christmas would be fun again, but it's the three of us on Christmas Day and I'd rather you get me things that I can use and need. It's just the way things are here. I don't mind being surprised, when I can afford to be surprised. In this economy? I can't afford it.

If you could pick any place on earth to spend the holidays, where would you go, and who would you bring with you?
I'm actually rather happy to be home for the holidays. If I could take my family with me, I'd take them to Vegas to see my in-laws, be somewhere warmer than it is here, Bring Rob's family, my family, everyone. I think it'd be a fun vacation for everyone.
When do you get your holiday shopping done? Weeks before or last minute?
Normally, I'm still shopping the day before Christmas. This year, I was proactive and was done shopping by December 1st for the big stuff. There are still a few things to pick up that will be done Monday. Now all that's left is the wrapping.
If you bumped into someone who regularly picked on you as a child, what would you say to them?
This actually happened to me recently and you know what? I didn't say anything to them. We exchanged polite "hello, how are you?"'s and went on with our lives. Life is too short to harbor grudges towards bullies. What's the point? I'm not the same person I was when I was a child, who's to say they are?

If you fall in love with a book or movie, do you tend to watch/read it again and again? If so, what's your upper limit on repeats?
Yes, I actually do read books and watch movies more than once. I don't have a huge movie collection for that reason. I only buy the ones I want to watch multiple times, otherwise we redbox/blockbuster/netflix. I do the same with books, purchase the ones that I'll read more than once. Otherwise, that's what libraries are for.

What is the best book you've read this year, and why?
I have to say that Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins was the best book. It's the final book of the Hunger Games trilogy and I'm really quite sad that it's over. It's hard to put into words why I loved this book (and trilogy) so much, especially since it was quite far out of my typical reading genre.
( Hunger Games...Collapse )
