I Am Bored!

So . . . I went to the Movie Theater at 3800 42nd Ave S. in Minneapolis. Called The Riverview Theater, this long-popular neighborhood Theater has been on its corner position for many years. The nice young man that greeted me told me about the about-to-begin childen's movie and the next child's movie after that. I pointed out that--despite being short--I'm definitely not a youngster anymore. Next he came up with a movie called "Black Bag", and explained that it is a spy movie about hunting for a traitor. "Black Bag" has received multiple Good Reviews and has an excellent list of performers. It does sound good and starts at 6:45 this evening. I just might good back to see it and to have some of The Riverview's excellent popcorn, too. Anyone interested in joining me? I'd love to have company.

Sorry about the short time notice on this.

A Positive Shock/Surprise

Yesterday, my Ex (Jeff) and I ran a few "gotta git 'er done" chores together. The first was to take the large glass jar--into which we have been tossing loose change for years--to the bank with the goal of pouring said change into the bank's change counter machine. Then . . . we'd split the total value as half-and-half to each. There was quite a artistic blotch of copper coloring along much of the sides of the jar with respectable sized blots of silver here and there. Said jar was downright difficult for me to just reach down and pick it up from it's space on the living room floor. Jeff carried it out to the car.

I really Want to stretch this story out farther, but I just can't make myself do so.

After all the jangling and jingling and machine humming, we received a sheet of paper with (among other things) the follow info:

   $252.58

We split the result and were both quite pleased.

Little Girl, Maple

Sweet, gentle little Maple of the protruding ribs who has been haunting my thoughts for something approaching 2 months called me back to the City Pound yesterday. I had called Jeff to let him know that I was ready to adopt her, so he met me there to help. As the Pound staff were short-handed and quite busy, they set us in one of the small back rooms where various items (toys, food, &etc.) waited on counter tops, in a refrigerator, and on some furniture.

Then the Volunteer who was guiding us lead Maple into the room. Maple tore across the room, stood up on her back legs, and stretched her head to grab one of the stuffed toys off the counter. She jumped onto the couch next to me and--in what was probably just less than one minute--demolished said stuffed toy, spreading the bits and fillings over the area. Then she lunged off the couch and shot back to the counter. The Volunteer quickly called her over to the fridge calling out, "Kong, Maple. Don't you want a Kong?" The silent, but swift answer was:

"YOU BETCHA, LADY! HAND IT OVER!"

At Least It's Less Than a Whole Month. . .

Besides apologizing for such long gaps between such few/short/bland posts, I'm also sorry that I don't even get going well enough to read My Friends' posts. I am trying to toss away the worst of the depression and such negative nonsense. Any Good Wishes and Kind Thoughts as might float around in my direction are very welcome and appreciated, even if I never hear or read them. Thank you, anyway.

I have been walking most days even though I have no sweet dog at my side. It rather feels as though I'm working to keep up the habit for when I adopt another dog. Actually, I might have found a PitBull mix 1 year-old girl, who walked into the City Pound meet-up room, came over to the bench I sat on, and put both front paws into my lap while licking all over my face and throat. She is really friendly and very sweet. Her walking on the leash could use more practice, but she was the best behaved at walking of any of the others there I walked with. I'm not sure WHY I haven't just said YES to her yet. But I'm pretty sure that if she is still there after Thanksgiving I will probably adopt her Friday afternoon when I get off work. For Thanksgiving, I'm going to friends' place and their dogs do NOT like canine visitors!

I Had A GREAT Title

Then it went into hiding and I lost my first paragraph that was going to continue the point of the Missing Title. sigh . . .

Just before sitting to write this, I took a cup of coffee out to the back deck and enjoyed a few minutes in the early morning darkness watching the cotton-pile clouds that sauntered across the sky. I even managed to view a few stars between the cloud clumps. A lovely way to relax my way into today. Just not as long as I prefer.

Last weekend and into this week I put some Halloween decorations in the front yard and am enjoying their presence, colors, and lights each evening since. It is no Great Display, but it is better than no Display. I hope the weather is gentle on Halloween itself. I love seeing the youngsters in their costumes and the Good Adults who bring them to my house.

Have I mentioned that I've started re-watching "The Mandalorian"? This time around I get to watch 2 or 3 episodes one after another on each evening. It is MUCH more fun this way. The evenings certainly pass along more quickly and I can go to bed in a content--or even happy--state of mind.

Monday, Monday . . .

And I don't remember the next phrase of the song . . . Since I am definitely NOT Mama Cass, it is just as well that I do NOT even try to sing that excellent song.

The Big News today is that the divorce is FINALLY complete and official. This means that certain "No, you may NOT"s are now gone. Things like selling items neither of us want or need anymore, such that I or we can now begin to clear out said items and maybe put a little money in our accounts. The income from most of the items will need to be split between us, with a few of them belonging only to one or the other. The process will be a long one and more effort than My Ex realizes, especially since he seems to think I'm going to Get 'er Done on my own. BUT! I will not dwell in the frustrations of all those little bits and bobs of This Life of Mine.

Overall, I've been doing a pretty good job of continuing to walk every day--even twice a day more often than not. Might have to push myself more as Winter rolls in and walks become a more COLD project. I am still looking for a dog (or two) that might be willing to come share my life and help me heal from having lost my Good Boy Arrow. I do keep my days as busy as I can to minimize the loneliness and/or boredom. The amount of House Cleaning Bits & Bobs that is included in that staying busy effort is--as historically practiced-- somewhat minimal.
