Updated SMTP tool from SavvyData

We’ve been recommending this since last year to those customers who can’t quite get their email settings figured out in fmSpark or in the email notifications of SeedCode Complete. Lee has a updated version that should make this event easier.

Webinar: Variables & Conditional Formatting

A number of folks have been asking for the example files from our FileMaker webinar on variables and conditional formatting. So here they are.

This was one of the first times we articulated the simple-graph / “no-graph” ideas that are now behind SeedCode Calendar. The demo files include our cross tab chart done without any expression in fields, calculations, or scripting:

Gantt Chart: Compare Two Projects

Need an easy way to compare two projects on the calendar’s gantt chart? Simply change the format of the calendar’s project filter from a pop-up menu to checkboxes (shown in the left hand side bar below).

Of course if you have a ton of projects you’ll probably want that value list to be “active” projects, or to create a portal to select projects from, but however you do it, the project filter supports return separated project IDs.

Note that the gantt chart will also restrict itself to projects within the visible date range, so if you just want to compare projects “going on now” you don’t need to do a thing.

Beautiful “Skinning” of the Calendar

Nunzio Gambale from Bearcage Productions sent us this great screen shot of how he’s skinned the calendar to match the rest of his solution.

And here is their slick reworking of the Event Detail window…

Nunzio also suggested the cool “quick delete” mod we posted instructions for here.

Open FileMaker (Go) Records from iCal

The new url support in FileMaker Go (urls beginning “FMP7Script…”) lets us do some pretty amazing things.

For one thing, when we’re looking at a FileMaker event in iCal, we can click on a link in that event and open the related project record in FileMaker Go.

The FileMaker events are made available in iCal via our Zulu plugin, (offering read-write access from iCal) and the open-related-records technique is documented here.

Here’s a quick demo…

Zulu: New Build Released

We’ve met the first milestone on our roadmap for Zulu, our iCal Server for FileMaker. The new version we’re releasing today offers…

  • SSL support
  • Read-Only subscriptions from Google Calendar
  • and a simpler installer-assisted installation.

The new version is a free upgrade to current users; download it here.

This is the first time we’ve published a product roadmap and it feels good to hit that first milestone. Couldn’t have done it without the amazing work of Sam and Jesse Barnum at 360Works; those guys are inspiring.

The Google Calendar integration (screen shot below) is particularly exiting, even though this is only the first part of what we have planned with Google.
