The greatest harm can result from the best intentions.
True as a boiling bog full of toasted toads!
"Humans have always believed in magic. It is only in these last few centuries that the belief has fallen away.I think that they really want to believe, because in their hearts they know it to be true. They know that magic really exists." - Joan from The Magician by Michael Scott
Dear friends, I have something to ask of you, to beg of you. Please, please, please... if you have ANY thing to spare, consider helping me and my flat rock playhouse family out by donating money to my theatre.
Why? Because 60 years of theatre is about to die. We need to raise 250k by Jan in order to finish this season.
I have spent the last day crying, and I still need to FINISH THE NUTCRACKER. I just... had to post that link in case any of you had 5 or 10 dollars to spare. That is all.
Today is my first day back! Hello 2012 season. I went to bed at like, 10:30 last night so here I am, up super early. Here's to hoping this year doesn't suck ass.
I met Marlee Hart for the first time in August of 2006. We were supposed to go see HP GoF in imax at Discover Place in Charlotte. Instead, we went to steak and shake and talked about Shoebox Project for two hours.
The last time I saw Marlee was just before Christmas. I spent three hours with her in the hospital, I brought her my Peter Pan stuffed doll that she had hugged when she was scared as she watched Supernatural with quidditchkiss and I years and years ago.
The last time I talked to Marlee was on twitter, when I asked her if she had him with her. She said no, but that her mother was bringing him to her. She at replied me a picture that her mother sent of Peter in the car with his seat belt on.
Marlee died yesterday.
Last night, in the midst of the superbowl, I wondered where she was. She loved the Patriots more than anything and her silence worried me. Of course, now, I know why.
She was the strongest person I knew, know. She beat and survived lymphoma at age 19 only to turn around and get sarcoma at 21. 24 is too young to die.
The picture above is lj interests that I share with her, inside jokes with she, BK, and me.
I am never removing them.
I love you Marlee. She always laughed because I had two tags for her. Fuck yes, I am using both of them now.
Marlee with my peter pan doll, scared, watching SPN. ♥ You'll Never Walk Alone.
I have a BFA in Theatre Arts: Design and Production with a concentration in Scenic Painting. Aka, I went to school to learn how to paint sets for theatres.
And something that surprises even me: I am a professional Scenic Painter.
Even better, I am the head of my department at the state theatre of NC, the Scenic Charge. Last season I charged 17 shows in 10 months, this year it is going to be 18. There were times where I didn't have a day off for 28 days... I think that was the most I counted.
Anyways. Yes, I am in my field. I get to paint all day long, in comfy clothes. WHAT IS A NORMAL WORKING ENVIRONMENT.
Some day I want to write a fic about everything... that happens on a daily basis in a theatre. Theatre is a crazy place.
