We are currently on indefinite hiatus – it has been difficulty to keep this going with the attention it deserves. We will announce if anything changes.
Team:
Scribe Base is operated by one person, Chris Hubbard. He has a background in philosophy and psychology and obtains his MA in English this December. Enjoys reading: plays, drama, poetry, horror fiction, academic non-fiction, 19th- and 20th-century literature.
We (Scribe Base) are always looking for regular contributors, especially op-ed writers and book reviewers! We are also looking for volunteer editors and people to assist with social media. We would also be open to the idea of someone pitching a themed issue and being lead editor for that project.
Social Media
We’re most active on Facebook and Instagram.
- Scribe Base is a quarterly literary magazine with special themed issues (i.e. Halloween, Horror, etc.) being published a few times per year. Submissions to quarterly issues (Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter) need not necessarily feature a “seasonal” theme, but it is a plus if they do. Submissions to these quarterly issues can be of any genre, or even general or contemporary fiction. We also enjoy experimental, speculative, and surrealist pieces.
- Submissions are always welcome. When submitting, please state in the e-mail to which issue you are submitting (or issues, if you are sending in multiple simultaneous submissions). E-mails that do not state this will still be considered; it just makes it easier to organize when going through the submissions.
- Previously published works will be considered, only if the author still retains copyrights of that respective work.
- Published issues can be viewed by clicking the Past Issues tab, or by clicking here.
- We, on occasion, will review past issues for any errors in formatting and the like. If you notice any errors of this sort, please e-mail us and let us know! 🙂
- We do minimal editing (primarily just for grammatical purposes if needed); style, voice, and formatting of the author we’d like to preserve.
- We are open to any comments or suggestions (i.e. ideas for future issues).
- We would like to, at some point, get together an anthology and have it published in print. If anyone is interested in helping out with this endeavor, let me know.
- Questions, comments, suggestions, and submissions can be sent to sbsubmit475@gmail.com

Chris–I was just looking at old posts and came upon the last publication here. What a crazy time these past few years have been. I hope you are well. Kerfe
