Around fifteen years ago I become very aware of what was being added to our food in the United States. I started down a path that was eye opening and horrifying. Not only was I consuming numerous chemicals, but my skin was absorbing them by the health care products I was using. That led to the realization that cleaning products and home furnishings all created a home packed full of hazards. The gradual process of lifestyle change took shape. When I became a mother, my drive for non-toxic and healthy increased. I became a “Mom on A Mission” to keep my child and family safe.

Years later, when it came time to completely remodel our own home, I again continued my mission. Our homes should harbor a healthy environment where we aren’t breathing in anything harmful. I wanted alternatives to toxic glues and fumes, fiberglass, and hidden dangers that lurk in our building supplies. I noticed in the US, those options were not readily available. My fiancé, Donnie, has been in the construction industry for years and even at the professional level, there were not many healthy options for his clients.

I stumbled across sheep wool insulation. It was like a light bulb; I was excited to have a choice! My excitement was short lived. The only wool insulation available in the US still added boric acid to keep the bugs away. This not only made the wool no longer natural, but the protection would not last. I was disappointed and frustrated.

Then I found ISOLENA. They are different and truly natural. They are the only wool company in the world to modify the wool to be permanently bug resistant, all while not losing any of the amazing properties of wool. I was hooked! At that time, ISOLENA did not sell or ship to the US, which was unacceptable to me. I paused work on our remodel because I refused to settle. I wanted ISOLENA’s all natural sheep wool insulation in our home, and felt Americans deserved a better option. This determination, along with my fiancé’s vast industry knowledge, led to a blossoming friendship and amazing partnership with the Lehner family and ISOLENA. Thus, Scēp Wool was born.
