Dear femslashex author:

So we've been matched on one of my very favorite fandoms, which pretty much means I already think you're made of ALL the awesome. I'm the sort of person who likes really detailed lists of likes and dislikes so that I have as much information to play with as possible, so that's what I'm giving you, but PLEASE don't think that this is a checklist or anything like that. I'm sort of ridiculously easy to please, so as long as you like your story, I bet I'll like it too. ♥

Things I like - dealing with issues of faith/loss of faith/finding new faith, exploration of sexual/gender identity, polyamory of all configurations, distopias, racebending (ie making a character a different race or ethnicity and exploring the consequences of that change), exploration of community, always the opposite sex of the canon, kink (with or without sex), sex positivity, girls kicking ass, feminism, hopeful endings (as opposed to happy endings, although I do love those as well), transitioning back to "normal" life after an exceptional event, characters being passionate about the things they love and non-traditional story telling formats like letters or journal articles or mixed media. I'm also a really big fan of most tropes and AUs, so if you have an idea for a Harlequin AU or want to write about people being soul bonded or having to deal with the random child that showed up on their front step, GO FOR IT. My one exception is the prostitute AU, which I mention in my dislikes notes. I rec things haphazardly (you can find those under any of my recs tags) and pretty much everything I've ever read and liked even a part of is bookmarked on my pinboard. Which, you know, means that you'll quickly notice I'm pretty damn catholic in my fic tastes. *g*

Things I dislike - one true loves (that is, anything that confirms the idea that there is only One Person Out There For Everyone And You Only Have One Chance At Finding Them Ever as anything but creepy/sad), entirely hopeless endings (you can get as dark and as grim as you want, just as long you leave me a little room for hope. And yes, Pandora's Box IS one of my favorite tales, why do you ask? *g*), infidelity (which is to say where the characters consider it being unfaithful to whatever arrangement they've agreed upon), addiction plotlines (I don't mind recreational drug usage or drinking if it's in character though), dubious consent (by which I include most sex had while high/drunk unless both characters are at about equal levels of intoxication), rape (my one exception is that I don't mind things that mention rape or assault as a trauma that the character has worked through in the past, but I'd prefer that not be the main focus of the story), hurt without comfort (H/C is never going to be my MOST favorite genre, but all of the stories that fall into it that I love focus much more on the comfort and trauma recovery narratives, which are really where my interests lie), prostitute AUs (Pretty Woman is one of my least favorite movies in the entire world) and pregnancy (although I do like fic involving children of any age).

Note on sex: Please don't let the fact that my recs clearly demonstrate my love for NC-17 fics scare you off if you don't feel comfy writing sex. I am a big fan of the make-out fic! Or hand holding! Or even just longing glances! I am a big fan of snark as love or wild flirting in all circumstances, not just those that end in bed and I feel very passionately about all people being sex positive no matter their level of sexual experience or personal orientation. (And if you want to write about a character who you see as asexual or demisexual, that would also kick so much ass.) If you do want to write explicit sex, I don't really have any squicks that aren't covered by my dislikes section. I have an excessive love for D/s dynamics, bondage, blindfolds, orgasm denial, sex toys and crossdressing and I'm not terribly fond of things involving bodily waste or role play.

So that brings us to this fest in particular! I can't think of a single lady in any of these canons that I dislike, so even if I didn't ask for them as part of a pairing, you can feel more than free to work them into a story in a gen capacity. I don't think that this applies canonically, but trans and/or genderqueer characters are totally fine by me, so if that's your interpretation of any of these characters or if you want to write an AU, please feel free! Poly is, as I mentioned above, a thing that I'm into, so if you have an idea in that direction, go for it! I really only have an objection to Rory Gilmore's lovelife - everyone else's canon SOs are totally fine by me, so if you don't want to break someone up, you don't have to! (If, at this point in reading this letter, you'd like to kill me for my abuse of the exclamation mark, YOU WOULDN'T BE THE FIRST PERSON. :D? :D? :D?)

Gilmore Girls - Hilarious female-centric show of my HEART, ugh. (Well, at least for the first 4 seasons - I'm much more hit or miss about s5 - s7, but there are still things I liked even during those seasons.) Also, I always say that I think this show is partially a morality tale about Rory Gilmore's crappy taste in men. Which is to say that while I really love most of the people on this show, I'm not terribly fond of any of the guys that Rory dates. Which leaves a whole bunch of other awesome characters, if you're looking for a supporting cast for your fic! I'd just prefer if Dean, Logan and Jess didn't really show up.

Madeline Lynn/Louise Grant - Madeline literally DROPPED OUT OF COLLEGE to be with Louise. Sure, it was to go party and pick up guys (and then they both dropped out together to go on a perpetual spring break trip) but I am just so fond of the way that they seem to always show up out the blue at random times during s4 and ALWAYS as a pair. Some general thoughts that I have for what might be fun to read about them include high school pining, a more extended look at how they decided to drop out of college together or a peak at their future lives together.
Miss Patty/Babette Dell - On the surface, this might seem extremely random, but I swear I have my reasons! ... OK, so those reasons are mostly just that I'm a total sucker for BFF pairings, but I'd really enjoy reading just about anything you'd care to come up with, from a fling in their teens, after which they realized they were better friends, to a casual poly relationship that they've had all throughout their adult years (because Morie is the MOST CHILL DUDE ON THE PLANET) to realizing when they are old and gray that they've been in love with each other for most of their lives, but just never noticed. :D
Paris Geller/Rory Gilmore - I will be entirely upfront with you, inasmuch as I have ever wished for a fanon couple to become canon, this is the one that I have wished the hardest for. THEY ARE JUST SO GREAT TOGETHER and I'd pretty much be happy reading ANYTHING about them. I tend to be more fond of future fic, but I don't actually know that I've ever read anything set at Chilton or some kind of actual alternative universe (as opposed to a fork-in-the-road canon based AU) so that would be really fun to read too.
Rory Gilmore/Lane Kim - Part of this is just my desire to have more fic about Lane (who I love dearly, and always wish the show did better by in later seasons) but also because I think they'd be a really cute couple! I feel sort of bad, because I have actual Thoughts on the rest of the couples I requested in this fandom, but all I've really got for these two is "but so adorable!"

Mamma Mia - I watch this show whenever I feel down. I think my favorite part of it is just how on crack it is really, and how whole-heartedly it embraces that fact (THE LITERAL GREEK CHORUS GUYS) but I'm also really fond of the lack of slut-shaming involved in a show that is literally about not knowing who the father of your child is. There are just so many great things that happen in this movie and it is so nice how unstressful it is to watch. \0/

Donna/Rosie, Donna/Tanya and Rosie/Tanya - BEST group of old friends! I'd be happy to read just about anything about any of these three pairs (or a threesome, whatever floats your boat!) from an AU where they actually did form a band together to their wacky college adventures.
Sophie/Ali and Sophie/Lisa - Sophie is really adorable, and I kind of think that she should have all the good things in life. So making Lisa and/or Ali that good thing (honestly, as either an alternative or a supplement to Sky) is really appealing thing to me. :D?

Marvel Cinematic Universe - I don't actually have a current fandom (I tend to base my current fandom assessments on what I'm reading in and/or betaing, and I haven't betaed in a WHILE and my reading habits are SERIOUSLY multi-fannish) but if I did, this is pretty close to being it. And let me just say that I love EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THESE FINE FOLKS, male and female. (Well, I'm not overly fond of Loki, but sometimes people can convince me to give a damn for the duration of a fic.) So while I have read a LOT in this fandom, don't stress about it, because I am always up for reinterpretations of familiar tropes as well as totally new-to-me things. ♥ And it probably seems relevant to note here that if you want to write about Natasha, I am 100% happy with the idea of her having been giving some kind of anti-aging serum from the Red Room, like in some parts of comic canon, but I am ALSO 100% happy with the idea of her simply being a mid-30s lady with no special serum or powers. Actually, with any of these ladies, using as much or as little of their various comic backgrounds as you feel comfortable with is totally cool by me.

Darcy Lewis/Sif, Maria Hill/Sif and Jane Foster/Sif - Sif is hot, these three ladies seem like they'd have chemistry with her. I'm pretty easy as far as these things go, so whatever thoughts you have, I'd be very happy to read them! (Specifically, Jane/Sif seems like an interesting alternative to explore in contrast to Jane/Thor, Maria/Sif seems RIPE for explorations of warrior cultures/bonding over ladies in a male dominated profession, and I just feel like Darcy would TOTALLY be down with boning the hot Valkyrie. \0/)
Jane Foster/Darcy Lewis - Again with my theme of requesting BFF pairs. I admit, canon doesn't really develop the idea of them being really close friends, but I like to think of Jane hiring Darcy because she was the only one who applied and then she became Jane's best friend that she never knew she wanted. However, I am also open to other interpretations, like if you wanted to explore the idea of them becoming close in a boss/subordinate way or as an AU where they never met until Darcy was already working for SHEILD and Jane was hired on as a scientist.
Maria Hill/Natasha Romanov - Ladies bonding in a male-dominated profession! Who were former enemies! SO MANY THINGS ABOUT THIS PAIRING APPEAL TO ME. Also, if you wanted to work up an AU where Maria tracked Natasha down and convinced her to defect to SHEILD, I'd be into that too.
Betty Ross/Jane Foster - LADY SCIENCE BROS!!! I just love people being enthusiastic about their passions together, and I think that these two would fit the bill very well. Also, while I like Jane/Thor and Betty/Bruce, in the long run I think that Thor and Bruce would probably be bad for Jane and Betty, in a way that I am pretty sure that Betty and Jane wouldn't be for each other. &them;
Peggy Carter/Natasha Romanov (MCU) - I really love spies a LOT. (I know, I'm so subtle on this front, given some of my other requests.) So the idea of Peggy chasing Natasha across continents is a really intriguing one. Other thoughts that I had were for Peggy being the one bringing Natasha in from the cold (instead of Clint) or a time-traveling Peggy showing up in the 21st century.

Fringe - I maybe possibly mainlined the first three seasons over the past two weeks. And by the time you will read this letter, I'll probably have finished the 4th, at the rate that I'm going. So while I haven't finished it yet, I will 100% be finished with it by the time that the posting date happens, so don't worry about spoilers or anything. At the moment, I am completely in the flush of "YAY SHOW!" that I tend to get in when first watching something, so I can't think of anything that I'd note about this canon, other than intense amounts of squee and "HOLY SHIT WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN NEXT!!!1!" ETA 10/3/13: Having now watched most of s4, I just want to note that while I didn't ask for any self!cest (ie Alt!Olivia/Olivia or Alt!Astrid/Astrid) I'd be totally OK with receiving it. Basically I'd just be thrilled to get anything involving Astrid or Olivia./ETA

Alternate Astrid Farnsworth/Original Female Character and Alternate Olivia Dunham/Original Female Character - In both of these cases, this is really a request for Alt!Astrid or Alt!Olivia with any female character. If you've got an idea for an OC, that is wonderful, but if you don't, crossovers are A+++ amazing and I can't really think of a single character from Fringe that I wouldn't read them with. Really, just have fun with this one. :D
Olivia Dunham/Esther Figglesworth - Brown Betty was 100% one of my most favorite episodes of the series so far. And I have to say, I don't usually see Asrid/Olivia as anything other friends, but in the context of that episode, I was totally into it!
Olivia/Carol Danvers - A crossover pairing with Captain Marvel would ALSO be A+ fantastic. Carol Danvers and Olivia Dunham would light the world on fire with their awesome. *g* And seriously, if you've never considered reading this title before, the current run of Captain Marvel would be REALLY relevant to the interests of any Fringe fan, because Carol, like Olivia is the BEST self-rescuing princess. (As my friend C is fond of noting.) So over and above my desire to read Carol/Olivia, I'd just like to encourage you to read it! :D?

Skyfall - The Craig!Bond movies are where I really fell in love with James Bond franchise, but I have to say that I have a strong affection for just about every movie I've seen. (I haven't seen them all, but I have seen a large chunk.) So if you have an idea that's more in tone with one of the other Bonds, you can feel more than free to explore it, because I enjoy them all.

Female M/Original Female Character - As noted with my Fringe request, this is basically just a request for M/any female character. If you've got an idea for an OC, that is wonderful, but if you don't, crossovers are A+++ amazing and I can't really think of a single character from the movies I've seen that I wouldn't read her with. (I can't claim to have seen ALL the movies, but I have seen most of them, and also, I think I'd read M with a rock. She's just SO GREAT.) Really, just have fun with this one. :D
Female M/Eve Moneypenny - Mentor/mentee is one of my narrative kinks (see also Buffy/Giles and Fury/Coulson), but if that isn't a direction that you'd like to take this in, I am ALSO really fond of the idea of this as a pairing of equals at different points in their lives or possibly something exploring what would happen if they were sent on a mission together.
