April 2002 - January 2007
Maybe I've been overlooking something I've had all along or maybe I've never had it in the first place. Maybe I'll find it one day and maybe I won't.
Another year, another day. Guess it's time to stretch my wings and try flying again. Who knows where I'll go this time.
It's been a good four years. Thanks for everything.

Step 1: Put your iTunes or equivalent on random.
Step 2: Post the first line from the first fifty songs that play, no matter how embarrassing.
Step 3: Bold the songs and artist when someone guesses correctly.
Step 4: Looking them up on Google or any other search engine is CHEATING!
( The listCollapse )

Heh, I'm doing pretty badly on this whole "post a piece of writing every day" huh?
After thinking things over (and finding out there isn't a restriction on language or content), I've decided this is the piece I'm going to submit into The Phoenix (The literary magazine at my school). Thus, any and all comments and criticism is greatly appreciated.
This post contains sections 8-13 (1-7 can be found here) and (as of now) some of my favorite segments. Do I have any idea how many segments I'll write? No. Do I know how this is going to end? Yes. Yes, I do.

Bah, already missed two days. While I have been writing, I doubt any of you want to read my essay on gender stratification and the role of social hierarchy in modern day society.
This isn't the finished product, though I thought I'd go ahead and post a part of it. Working with a new story format for this piece and I think it's working out pretty well. Features Erika (Aubergine Dreams version). Currently, there are 13 sections, though there'll be a lot more. Under the cut is the first 7.
Also the current music? Been listening to it on repeat for several hours now. I consider it Erika's theme song.

Along with Aubergine Dreams, A Copper Paved Road is my new story. Takes place in the same world as The Gryphon's Game and contains many of the same characters, but contains an entirely different plot and setting. Also, unlike TGG, very little has been planned or figured out and I have no idea what I'm doing with this. But it should be fun.

For December, I'm going to attempt to post one (or more) pieces of writing a day. I figure it's a good time as any to work on my writing and hey, maybe I'll have something for the Phoenix by the time I'm done.
So for today's piece... 30 minutes before tomorrow, just a small piece that came to me.

This is a ( three page) sample from A Copper Paved Road (or ACPR/CPR), Chapter Two. Don't worry, I haven't posted Chapter One, so you haven't missed anything.
Typos are probably all over the place as I haven't edited this. Just felt like posting it. Chapter One and Chapter Two in its entirety will be posted once I'm finished with them.

This is from the perspective of Damantru!Ginia as opposed to Aubergine Dreams!Ginia.
Basic elements: Avery's her older brother, Amelia's her older sister, their family owns a bar/lounge, were labeled as pro-slavery by the community, and when the slave riots/revolts broke out, her family was attacked and killed and the bar set on fire. Poor Gi. Oh, and as a result of the attack, she's now mute (though I'm thinking about changing her history to make her born mute instead of later losing her voice).
And for some reason, I keep hearing Ginia saying this (if she could talk) with a Southern accent.
( People called her a siren, but Papa always laughed and said she was far too nice to be oneCollapse )
