Burnt Dog Studios

Burnt Dog Studios Presents: Black Polish

Jayden Binnix, or “Black Polish”, drove up from Los Angeles with her guitarist Hudson to record an intimate, four-song acoustic set with us in the KCPR studio.

Burnt Dog Studios Presents: Mariee Siou

Mariee Siou, a psychadelic folk artist with beautiful melodies that address ideas like grief, oppression, and human connection, stopped by the KCPR for a memorable solo performance.

Burnt Dog Studios Presents: Typewriter

Typewriter is a harecore punk band. Watch them throw their bodies around and break guitar strings on this live in-studio session in the small KCPR studio.

Burnt Dog Studios Presents: Couch Dog

Couch Dog have been the most popular local band in San Luis Obispo’s college music scene since 2022. It was only right we brought them into the studio for a tight, high-energy live session.

Burnt Dog Studios Presents: Easy Sleeper

LA-based rock band Easy Sleeper drove up to celebrate the release of their well-recieved LP, “A Sacred Way of Living”.

Burnt Dog Studios Presents: Caleb Nichols

I audio engineered KCPR’s first live in-studio session since the COVID pandemic with Kill Rock Stars’ very own Caleb Nichols.

Behind the scenes of “Burnt Dog Studios”

All the gear and thought that went into our setup for in-studio performances! After much brainstroming and some investment from alumni, our setup has upgraded significantly since this initial start.

This setup above was admittedly… very rough. We had barely enough equipment for our studio to make recordings. Over the year, after buying a new mixer, borrowing microphones from friends in the community, and locking in our production process, I’m glad to say our setup looks nothing like it did in that initial behind-the-scenes video. But, it is fun to look back at the lengths I went to get SOMETHING, and get our series started.
