Currently reading: There’s a lot of movement this week! I’m still reading Cold Mountain by Charles Frazier but I managed to read two chapters while I was on my trip! That’s a lot of movement for me and I’m hoping I can keep that momentum going.
Nothing again with The God of the Woods by Liz Moore. Reading Buddy is mid-move so we’ll be back at it once she’s settled.
I’m wondering if I bit off more than I can chew with La Novena Casa (Ninth House) by Leigh Bardugo. This is a long book, over 500 pages in my edition and I’m not even 100 pages in. It’s feeling like a massive uphill battle and I’ve questioned if I’m ready for it. There’s also a lot of words I don’t know so I’m using my dictionary app constantly. It’s going to be a slow go but I’m giving myself permission to put it down when it feels too hard knowing I can pick it up again later.
I did get myself tied up in more things this week like I knew I would! I grabbed The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin and started it while I was traveling. I’m loving it so far but I’ve put it aside to try and focus on Bardugo. I’m sure I’ll need something a bit lighter every once in a while so it will come up, but I won’t be focusing on this.
My audiobook dreams did not manifest as planned. Instead, I started The Games Gods Play by Abigail Owen. To be honest, I’m not loving it. Maybe I’m still on a high from Yarros, but this main character feels flat and I don’t find myself rooting for her which makes it hard. I like the premise enough to keep going, but at this point I don’t see myself finishing the series.

Recently finished: I have officially joined the purgatory of Yarros fans waiting for Book 4. I finished Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros while traveling and I’m lingering on writing the review now that it’s not holding me from starting the next book. I liked this book better than the first two and I’m giving it a full Five Stars. Review coming soon, I hope.
I also finished my review book, Firecircle 5×5 Method: The Definitive Guide to Igniting and Transforming Your Tourism Business by Deneen Allen. I wrote most of the review on the plane home but haven’t had a moment to breath to finish it. My due date isn’t for a few weeks so I’m sure I’ll wrap it up soon. I might hold off on another review book for a while and let myself finish what I’ve started.

Reading next: I don’t know what I’ll do when Cherry Baby by Rainbow Rowell comes to me on audio. I’ll be tempted to jump on it before I lose the hold, but I’m hesitant to start yet another book. I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it.

Currently reading: Hold on because I think things are about to get messy. I read just a small bit in Cold Mountain by Charles Frazier which is back to normal for me. I’m traveling the rest of this week which might give me a bit more time so I’m optimistic!
Still on pause with The God of the Woods by Liz Moore while Reading Buddy moves. I’m happy for her but also excited to keep pushing forward with this one!
Slow progress through La Novena Casa (Ninth House) by Leigh Bardugo. I’m not going to lie, the length of this one is intimidating! Especially in Spanish. I’ll keep moving, but it’s slow.
I’m so close to finishing Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros- I’ll probably wrap it up today! I’m really loving this one and I’m so sad there’s nothing else published yet. I’ll be waiting impatiently for it.
I started my next review book, Firecircle 5×5 Method: The Definitive Guide to Igniting and Transforming Your Tourism Business by Deneen Allen. I’m taking it on my trip and I think I’ll be able to finish it up. In an ideal world, I can get the review written and submitted before I get home! Fingers crossed.

Recently finished: Nothing new this week, shockingly. I guess that happens when you’re in the middle of so many books!

Reading next: I’m getting anxious about my next audiobook. I’m next in line for Cherry Baby by Rainbow Rowell so I’m praying that by some miracle it comes in before I finish Onyx Storm later today. I can only hope. There’s a backup plan if this doesn’t happen, but I am manifesting it’s delivery.
I also hate to say it, but I’m going to get myself into another print book. La Novena Casa was too big for me to take on the plane (and I get really tired reading in Spanish for a long time). I have a copy of The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin for my travels to give me something a little more ‘light’ to read while I’m moving around. I’m also planning to hit up a bookstore tomorrow night so this might change in a moment!

Currently reading: I’m happy to report I made some good progress in Cold Mountain by Charles Frazier for once! I read more than a chapter. I’m not sure this is sustainable, but I’m loving it!
I’m paused with The God of the Woods by Liz Moore for a while. My Reading Buddy is moving so she doesn’t have a lot of time to read and I’ll wait for her to catch up so we can chat through it before we move on!
I’m going slowly through La Novena Casa (Ninth House) by Leigh Bardugo. I find I do better at Spanish reads when I let myself pick them up and put them down a lot so I don’t burn out. A little counter intuitive, but it works for me.
No shock, I started Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros yesterday after finishing the second book on Monday. I’m sad that I’m reaching the end! This has been a fun ride and I’ll join the hoards of fans eagerly awaiting book four. If it doesn’t come out early next year, I’ll start to wonder if this is George R.R. Martin all over again.

Recently finished: I wrapped up Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros on my way home from work on Monday and was yelling “WHAT?!?!” in my car as I pulled in the driveway. What a cliffhanger ending! I wrote my book review that night so I could keep my thoughts separate. That posted yesterday if you’d like to check out my thoughts. I gave it Four out of Five Stars.

All of my reviews are posted! I published my review of Women’s Hotel by Daniel Lavery on Thursday last week. It’s so wild to be caught up! This book wasn’t really for me and I ended up giving it Two out of Five Stars.

Reading next: I surprised myself by picking up another book for review! There aren’t often print books so I snap one up when I can. A little outside my wheelhouse, but I grabbed Firecircle 5×5 Method: The Definitive Guide to Igniting and Transforming Your Tourism Business by Deneen Allen. Do I have a tourism business? Nope. But I plan to learn about it! I’m looking forward to something very different.

Currently reading: I haven’t made any progress in Cold Mountain by Charles Frazier again this week. I keep thinking about how I can carve out time for it, but I haven’t quite figured it out yet.
Reading Buddy and I met on Friday to talk about The God of the Woods by Liz Moore and I’ve already finished the next section we decided on. I’m flying through this one and I can’t wait until we meet again to keep it going!
I immediately started Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros after finishing Fourth Wing. I’m about half way through. I’m looking forward to binging the series!
This book will be on here a while. I started the Spanish translation of Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo, La Novena Casa. This is a thick book by any standards and I know I read much slower in Spanish. I suspect I’ll take a few pauses on it but I’ll keep pushing through!

Recently finished: I’m happy to have two books here this week! The first being, obviously, Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros. I pushed myself to write the review immediately after finishing it so I could more easily separate my thoughts between the installments in the series. I asked AI how I could change my review format so this is also my first review in that new format. Please take a look and let me know how you like the new format! I gave the book Four out of Five Stars.
I also wrapped up I Have a Love Story by Natalie MacMaster and submitted my review. This will probably be my last paid review for a while. There was an event going on that had a lot more physical books than the normal spread so it could be a while before I find another physical copy to review.

I’m really excited to say I am caught up on reviews! I posted three in this past week. The first was, as I mentioned above, for Fourth Wing. The next was Nice Girls Don’t Win by Parvati Shallow. It was a fun read for someone who is a fan of her, but it didn’t feel very complete. I gave it Three out of Five Stars.
I also reviewed The Night Watch by Sarah Waters which was a Four Star review for me. I thought the way she paced the timeline in the book was awesome and really unique. It drew me in a lot!

Reading next: I don’t feel like I’ll finish another book in the next week. If I do, I’ll start Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros on audio. I’m seeing a bit of a trend in my books lately.

Currently reading: I found a little time to read Cold Mountain by Charles Frazier so I’m moving forward, but at a snail’s pace. This is pretty typical for me with ebooks so I’m not worried about it. I’m just glad I got a bit in!
Ready Buddy and I are meeting on Friday to talk about The God of the Woods by Liz Moore so I’ll dive into the next section of this soon and keep moving! I’m itching to know what happens.
I thought I would have finished Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros by now, but a sick kiddo has left me working from home with no commute to help knock it out. I’m sure I’ll have it done by next week, though!
I’m working through my review copy of I Have a Love Story by Natalie MacMaster and hope to have it finished next week. It’s a fun mix of memoir and a coffee table book and I’m learning a lot about a type of music I knew nothing about. This might be my last review book for a bit (depending on availability) so I’m soaking it in.

Recently finished: I finally wrapped up Women’s Hotel by Daniel M. Lavery! For such a short book, it took me a long time. It was one I didn’t mind setting aside to focus on other things and I let myself take on a lot of review books that kept kicking it down the road. Once I realized it was a comedy, I could enjoy it a bit more but it still wasn’t for me. I gave it Two out of Five Stars. I’ll get a review together for this one in a while as I’m slowly taking down my backlog.

Speaking of reviews, I posted my review for Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus on Thursday. This is one of the best books I’ve read in a while and I gave it a full Five out of Five Stars.

Reading next: I’m going to do something I haven’t done in a while. I’ve decided to binge a series. I think the last time I did this was the Divergent books which I read in 2014. It’s time for another binge! So I’ll jump right into Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros on audio when I finish the first book. I’m going to do the dramatic reading again now that I’m finally getting used to the sound effects and voice actors.

Currently reading: I got back to Women’s Hotel by Daniel M. Lavery and I think I might finish it this week! Realizing it’s a comedy has helped me enjoy it a lot more. I realize that there isn’t much plot, but I can enjoy the funny situations now without wondering how it connects to something larger.
I was able to read some from Cold Mountain by Charles Frazier as well. I had to go to the IT Help Desk at work and ended up sitting for a long time. Pulling this book out was an easy solution!
After my Reading Buddy and I met, I powered through the next section of The God of the Woods by Liz Moore in two days. Easy to say I’m enjoying this a lot. We don’t have a date set for when we’ll meet again so I’m on pause with this for a while.
I’m absolutely loving Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros. The full cast reading is growing on me, too. It took some getting used to since some of the descriptions are taken out in favor of the sound effects and voice actors. I’m almost done with Part 1 and will pick up Part 2 right away!

Recently finished: I’ve finished up No Man’s Land by Becky Jensen as expected. I won’t write a review for this one here since it’s for my review job. I enjoyed it a lot, though, and would recommend it to those who liked Wild by Cheryl Strayed.

I’ve been getting to my reviews finally! My review of The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah went up on Monday. I thought this one was a little slow at times and it was hard for me to really get into it. I did like that it was set in the Dust Bowl and wasn’t The Grapes of Wrath. I gave it Three out of Five Stars.
I also posted my review of A Dance With Dragons by George R.R. Martin. I liked this book well enough, but I struggled with the fact that this is the final published book of the series! Knowing that colored my enjoyment a lot and I ended up giving it Three out of Five Stars because it was so hard to enjoy.

Reading next: I’ve got another book for review in the mail that I plan to start as soon as I can. It’s I Have a Love Story by Natalie MacMaster. I find it a bit hard to review memoirs, but I’m looking forward to learning about someone I haven’t heard of before. Based on the description, I’m guessing I’ve heard her play but not known who was creating the music.

Currently reading: I’m getting close to returning to Women’s Hotel by Daniel M. Lavery. Maybe one more week?
I didn’t do much with Cold Mountain by Charles Frazier either. I’m hoping this one picks up soon. I haven’t seen the movie so I have zero expectations.
My Reading Buddy and I plan to meet tomorrow to talk about The God of the Woods by Liz Moore. I’m hoping to jump right back into this and race to the next stopping point as soon as I can!
I’ve almost finished No Man’s Land by Becky Jensen and expect it to be off this list by next week! My deadline for the review isn’t until April 9th and it’s been nice not to feel rushed to finish.

Recently finished: I finished The Night Watch by Sarah Waters on my way home from work yesterday! This one got heavy at times and was a bit hard to listen to at parts, but I enjoyed it. The story moved backward in time and Waters was able to keep some mystery alive right until the end. For now, I’m giving this Four out of Five Stars. I’m several reviews behind so I’ll see if my thoughts change between now and when I finally get around to writing it.

Reading next: I already downloaded Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros and will be starting it today! It’s a dramatized read with a full cast and sound effects which sounds unlike anything else I’ve ever listened to. I’m excited and a bit nervous at the same time. I can’t wait to see how it goes!

Currently reading: I thought I’d have some time for Women’s Hotel by Daniel M. Lavery, but it didn’t work out exactly how I thought so I’m still on hold with this one.
I made a little progress through Cold Mountain by Charles Frazier but I’m still on the second chapter. It’s really long with is discouraging but I’ll keep moving!
I made good progress in The Night Watch by Sarah Waters and I’m optimistic that I’ll finish it by next week. I’m liking the time jumps and look forward to seeing how this wraps up!
I reached the first stopping point of The God of the Woods by Liz Moore and I’m waiting for my Reading Buddy to wrap up so we can chat about it. So far I really like the writing and pacing. This will be a great one for a Buddy Read!
I received my copy of No Man’s Land by Becky Jensen and immediately jumped in. This has been great so far. It is well written and reminds me of other books I’ve read and enjoyed before. I hope to finish it soon but I have a few weeks left before the review is due.

Recently finished: Nothing finished this week. I was able to post a review so now I’m only four behind. If you want to read more of my thoughts on It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover, please drop a comment and let me know what you think. I’m hoping to find a copy of the movie to enjoy soon.

Reading next: I’m guessing an audiobook will be my next up. I’m going to go with Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros. I’ve heard good things about this series so I’m excited to jump in. The audiobook version I found is a dramatized reading so it has a full cast. I’m excited for that experience!

Currently reading: I’ll be back to Women’s Hotel by Daniel M. Lavery soon, but not just yet. I saw this on a list of ‘funny’ books so maybe I’m thinking of it wrong and what’s frustrating me about it should be amusing me. I’ll have to approach it differently and see what changes.
I finished the first chapter of Cold Mountain by Charles Frazier but that feels like a small victory. I’m still working on how I can give my ebooks more attention.
I had some good movement this week. I started a new audiobook with The Night Watch by Sarah Waters. I’m about a quarter of the way through and I feel like something big is going to happen soon so I’m waiting until then to pass judgement.
I’ve finally started The God of the Woods by Liz Moore! I feel like it’s been on my bedside table for ages. I only started last night. My expectations are high, hopefully not too high.

Recently finished: I was able to power through and finish Kasia by Samuel Thawley with plenty of time to write my review by the deadline. I won’t be writing a full review here so I’m not further behind on that front. I gave the book Two out of Five Stars.
I wrapped up my audiobook of Nice Girls Don’t Win by Parvarti Shallow which puts me yet another review book behind. I’ll be making an effort to catch up this week and next so I hope five behind is the most I’ll be for a while. I liked this well enough, but the ending took a bit of a different tone that I didn’t enjoy as much. I was also hoping for more about Parv’s time on Survivor, The Traitors, and some other shows I’m familiar with but those didn’t feature very strongly. I’ll go into it more with a review but for now I’m giving it Three out of Five Stars.

Reading next: I signed up for another book to review. I don’t often find titles that they’ll send in print so I’m taking advantage while I can! I’ll be getting a copy of No Man’s Land by Becky Jensen in the mail soon and plan to dive right in.

Just answer the three questions below and leave a link to your post in the comments for others to look at. No blog? No problem! Just leave a comment with your responses. Please, take some time to visit the other participants and see what others are reading. So, let’s get to it!

The Three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

Currently reading: I had a few nights that I got back to Women’s Hotel by Daniel M. Lavery before my attention shifted again. I’m still struggling with this book because there doesn’t seem to be a plot. It follows the women in the hotel, but I can’t tell to what end. I’ll get back to it later, but this one isn’t a priority right now.
I didn’t make any progress in Cold Mountain by Charles Frazier this week. I’m starting to feel like I’m in a routine after a week back from vacation, but reading on my phone isn’t part of that process yet. I’ll see if I can figure it out.
It took a while, but I finally got my copy of Kasia by Samuel Thawley in the mail and I’ve jumped right in! This is a longer one and I’m on a timeline so I’m hoping to focus on it and make some strong progress as fast as I can.
I was able to start a new audiobook and I picked Nice Girls Don’t Win by Parvarti Shallow. Survivor 50 premiers TONIGHT and this book has been great for getting me excited about it. I know Parv doesn’t compete, but she talks about a lot of folks who will. This isn’t a long book and I expect it will be finished by next week.

Recently finished: I’m so happy to report that I finished A Dance With Dragons by George R.R. Martin! I now share a lot of rage with fans who didn’t love the direction the show went. I hadn’t realized how much of the final few seasons was beyond the book until now and I have a bone or two to pick!
I stayed up late over the weekend to finish Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus and I absolutely loved it! I got this recommendation from AI and I’m thinking I’ll have to try that again soon. I wasn’t sure how it would go but what a winner. I’ve very behind on reviews now so please forgive me as I dig myself out while trying to focus on some personal projects that are a bit timely!

The one review I did finish was This Is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone which posted on Monday. I can see why some people loved this book, but it failed to land for me. I always read other reviews after I finish my own and I recognize I’m in the minority on my feelings for this one. I gave it Two out of Five Stars.

Reading next: I’m holding on to The God of the Woods by Liz Moore next. It’s on my bedside table and I plan to use it as a motivator to get through my review book before the deadline!
I’m probably going to need a new audiobook before next week. My plan is to pick up The Night Watch by Sarah Waters. I’ve read Waters before and really enjoyed her work so I’m looking forward to this one!
