Aaand... that's a wrap for the month! Here's the last post for August, and as in previous years, I finish with ten black and white icons - this year, for a bit of a change, I have chosen 10 classic film stars whom I like (either they did films I love, or the films may not be wonderful but I just like them :) Of course, the fact that they were all but the last one black and white pictures to start with... didn't actually make it easier...

        
            
        

They are, in order, silent film stars Ramon Novarro and Clara Bow, the classic sex symbol (and good comedienne) Jean Harlow, Myrna Loy and William Powell (from The Thin Man), Anna May Wong (just because she is beautiful), Joan Blondell (just because she's lovable), James Stewart (with my absolute favourite line from The Philadelphia Story), James Mason (The Man In Grey... the bits of the film I've seen are, well, not great, but he is rather gorgeous), Ronald Colman (the definitive Sydney Carton in A Tale of Two Cities), and Elizabeth Taylor (her Cleopatra was ridiculous, but very pretty in a retro way)

Coming to the end of the month soon...

I do like the Tintin books (not as much as Asterix, but still...) and for some reason have always loved Bianca Castafiore (not sure I'd want to listen to too much of her singing, I suspect she is one of those full-bodied vibrato-throated sopranos I tend to avoid) so thought I'd do a music icon with her. And while hunting up the picture I ran across a couple of Professor Calculus which... inspired me.

I had one more go at a pairing... Faramir and Eowyn from LOTR. I adore them both, and really wanted more than we got in the movies.

On the other hand, I don't know that this worked awfully well, I'm not terribly good at blending pictures :( But they are beautiful in themselves...

They are, in order, Blake and Avon, and Avon and Soolin (my favourite two pairings in Blakes 7), Arthur and Kai (Arthur of the Britons), Amy and Rory (Dr Who), Chris and Ezra (Magnificent 7), Lester and Connor, and Connor and Abby (both Primeval), Jack and Daniel (Stargate SG1), Jim and Blair (The Sentinel) and Peter and Neal (White Collar... yes, I love the OT3 with El too :)
