An Ant from 15 Feet

Pictures : Another shot of one of the morning glories with the 100-400mm lens from about 15 feet away. And no, I can’t see an ant from 15 feet!

Not an ideal ant shot, but I can see it.

Hope everyone is having a fine start to their week.

Size Perspective

Pictures : My bird bath is 16 inches(40 cm) in diameter across the top and about 11 inches(29 cm) tall. So as you can see the Road Runner is a good size bird compare to most birds. Did you know that a Road Runner will happily munch on smaller birds? However, I think it’s favorite meal is lizards, I often see them pass by with a lizard in their beak.

Road Runner.

I took this off of Birdfact.com
“Roadrunners eat a wide variety of foods. In fact, they are not picky eaters and will eat whatever they find. Roadrunners are Omnivores, which means they eat both meat and vegetation. Their diet consists mainly of small mammals, small birds, reptiles, rodents and insects, but they eat fruit, seeds and bits of vegetation, too.

Roadrunners prefer to catch and kill live prey, but they also eat carrion when it is available, and aren’t opposed to snatching eggs and baby birds out of the nests of other birds.”

Good Sunday, Folks.

Another of the Cooper

Pictures : This one didn’t have the stick in the head as bad as the other shot.

Chore : My kitchen faucet developed a leak and I had to replace it so that was today’s little chore. Like the new one a lot better. Most RVs have three faucets in them, kitchen sink, bathroom sink, and bathroom shower. So far I’ve replaced two, one to go!

Hope you are having a big Saturday!

Does not Play well with Others

Pictures : “Does not play well with others”, so the other birds tell me, 😬! This one came and set around for a minute or two, by the time I seen it of course all the other birds were long gone.

I think this bird is a Juvenile Cooper’s Hawk. The small limb, you see above the birds head slightly to the left of the eye actually came down to about the top of the eye and slightly to the front of the eye, and I cloned it out as best I could, not my best work, but I tried! Probably should’ve used some of that fancy AI stuff that’s in Photoshop, but I’m not very familiar with it.

Canon Flash EL-5 : I keep an eye on Canon Price Watch site and the other day Canon had refurbished Flash EL-5 for $200.00 so I bit the bullet and got one. Normally, they are a $400 item, new. I like Canon refurbished, everything I have gotten from them has been indistinguishable from new as best I can tell. Also, Canon refurbished comes with a one year warranty. The only other flash I have is the original 580EX, which is very old at this point and not completely compatible with the Canon R cameras. The new one works well with my R7 but not the RP, but maybe one day I’ll buy a newer full-frame camera.

I hope everyone has a fine weekend.

Sparrow

Pictures : Just one of the White-crowned Sparrow that visited for a spell earlier in the year. I don’t get to see them all summer, but I kind of like seeing the migrators come and go.

Folks, do have a fine Wednesday.

From This Side

Pictures : From this side and that side what is that thing moving water? It was interesting to watch the Road Runner as it observed the tiny solar pump.

Looking from the other side. Road Runner.

Hope everyone has a good start to the week.

Don’t like the Pump?

Pictures : I have a stick up above my bird bath so the birds have an approach to check it out before diving in, and yesterday this Road-runner got up on it and looked intently at the solar pump for a good couple minutes. It never did go drink from the birdbath. However, today a Road-rummer came by and jump right to the bath and had a drink, not sure if it was a different one or the same.

“Hey, what is that thing?”

Happy Sunday.
