I’m an empty-nest Jersey girl recently relocated to Rhode Island and looking to ramp up my writing career.
I have published five children’s books, and too many news features and personal essays to count — mostly in Seven Days, the Vermont alt weekly newspaper where I was also an editor for several years.
My major focus right now is finding a publisher for LITTLE GRANDMA’S MIRROR, a novel that tells the parallel stories of adult siblings coming to terms with orphanhood today, and their grandmother coming to America from her shtetl in Galicia at the turn of the last century. Sexuality, religious obsession and a kick-ass klezmer clarinet all play important parts in the story.
While I wait for my agent to work a miracle, I’m trying to stay sane by finding my way into my next project.

Hi Ruth: While longing for some family connections I looked you up on Facebook and found your fabulous website. As always, I found myself fully engulfed in your writings and felt such a connection to some of the stories about your Mom and Grandma.
It looks like your family is well and doing wonderful things. No surprise.

My classmates are starting to plan our 25th graduation reunion – unbelievable.
