9AM-10AM: Get moving and breathe some fresh air! We will go on a fun morning hike down the conservation area across the street from the library. Meeting place: library parking lot.
10AM-11AM: It’s story time! With each book, a new adventure begins. Have fun participating in the activities after the story.

Babies & Books
This program is currently on hold. Families are still welcome to gather and connect. Sensory books and toys will be available for babies, but there will be no facilitator for the group until further notice.

Join Kristina for a delightful weekly Storytime filled with imagination, creativity, and fun! Each session features engaging stories, songs, and hands-on crafts that bring the themes to life. Join us once a month at the library for our Homeschool Hangout! This casual, welcoming gathering is designed for homeschoolers and their families to connect, learn, and have fun together. Each month features a different activity—ranging from hands-on crafts and STEM experiments to games and group activities—so there’s always something new to explore. *Have a look at our registration page or events calendar for the details of each monthly activity.

Our prepared, instructor-led activities will be best suited for older children (7+), but families with kids of all ages are welcome to join in. We’ll have a dedicated table for parents and younger children, complete with colouring pages, simple crafts, Lego, and more.

Tweens and teens are invited to unwind at a fun paint night at the library! Guided by art teacher Carly, participants will follow simple step-by-step instructions to create their own colourful masterpiece to take home. All materials will be provided, and snacks are included. The Russell Branch has a Creality K1C 3D Printer which library patrons can learn to use to print their own 3D models.
You need a valid library card. And you need to be 13 years old or older to use the printer or be accompanied by an adult;

Poetry Workshop with Silvia Fiorita Smith

Ask Me Anything – Local Democracy

Join us for an engaging and informative panel discussion focused on the health of local democracy and the role residents play in shaping it. This bilingual (English and French) session will bring together experienced municipal leaders from outside Russell Township to share insights, perspectives, and practical ways to get involved.

During the evening, we will provide an overview of the current state of local democracy, including how to register and vote, through a presentation by the Township’s Clerk, Joanne Camiré Laflamme. Panelists Marie-Noelle Lanthier, leader of Leadership féminin and former municipal councillor for La Nation, and Kirsten Gardner, former Deputy Mayor of South Dundas will discuss the roles and responsibilities of municipal council members, drawing from their own experiences in office. Attendees will also learn about resources available to those interested in running in municipal elections, as well as concrete actions residents can take to support and strengthen democracy both during election periods and between elections.

The Library is proud to host the Local Authors Showcase. This series of events, taking place on Saturdays in May, spotlights the creative talent of 17 authors in the township and surrounding areas.
Meet Local Authors: Connect one-on-one with writers from our area and learn about their creative journeys. Hear about the writing process, publishing paths, and the stories behind the stories.
Books for Sale:  Authors will have copies of their books available for purchase and signing.
