The Rural Development Company of Trinidad and Tobago

The Rural Development Company of Trinidad and Tobago was established in 2005 with the mandate to improve the quality of life for residents in rural communities by providing physical infrastructure, utilities, and social facilities. RDC operates under the Ministry of Rural Development and Local Government and provides services such as:

  • Identification and development the necessary infrastructure, utilities and social/community facilities
  • Managing the design and construction of all projects.

Geographical Areas of Responsibility

The Company’s Geographical areas of responsibility were expanded to include all areas throughout Trinidad as evidenced by Cabinet Note on June 7th, 2018. RDC’s geographical areas of responsibility include 39 Parliamentary Constituencies. Although some areas are more developed, there are still pockets within them that need to be developed to improve the quality of life.

Establishment of the Company

2005

Rural Development Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (RDC) was incorporated on 2nd May 2005 with the mandate to expedite the implementation of projects to provide physical infrastructure, utilities and social facilities in the rural areas to improve the quality of life of the residents in those communities by the following:

Identify and develop the necessary infrastructure, utilities and social/community facilities.
Manage the design and construction of all such projects.

2007

RDC commenced operations in late 2005 under Ministry of Planning and Development until January 2007 when the Company was transferred to the Ministry of Local Government.

2013

In September 2013, RDC was transferred to the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure.
RDC is located at Caroni Limited Central Office, Factory Road, Brechin Castle, Couva.

2018

RDC’s Geographical areas of responsibilities were expanded to include all of Trinidad.

RDC operates under The Ministry of Rural Development and Local Government to develop the necessary infrastructures, utilities and social/community facilities.
