Program
The Rural Health Transformation (RHT) Program is a federal initiative administered by CMS to overhaul rural healthcare infrastructure, providing $10 billion annually for states to improve access, workforce retention, and technology adoption. Through innovative system-wide change, the RHT Program invests in the rural healthcare delivery ecosystem for future generations.
So what does this mean for the Rural Collaborative?
Of the $181 million Washington state will receive in 2026, $5,430,000 has been ear-marked for TRC to implement smart, sustainable improvements.
Federal Priorities
- Sustainability: Transforming rural health centers to be viable long-term access points, not just covering operational expenses.
- Workforce Development: Improving retention, recruitment and training for rural healthcare workers.
- Technology and Care Innovation: Advancing telehealth, health information exchanges (HIE), and new care models.
- Health Focus Area: Prioritizing maternal care, primary care, chronic disease prevention, and tribal/agricultural communities.
Our Areas of Focus
- Build Capacity: Improve revenue cycle outcomes across the network.
- Create Access to Care: Improve the value of clinical care and reduce administrative burden.
- Implement Shared Tools and Resources: Allow rural health network to act like an integrated system, increasing operational efficiencies.
