St Croix is truly a beautiful paradise: white sand beaches and lush rainforests set the scene for what feels like bliss. For most, it is.
Yet beyond the tropical island mirage lies a disheartening animal problem that has long surpassed crisis mode. The requests for help with strays come in daily, nonstop. From the island’s Concordia dump scattered with terrified and starving strays to the pack of feral dogs just around the corner to the group of very pregnant dogs at Frederiksted Beach, this scene is all within a 5-mile radius of our office and just one little corner of the island.
To help the residents of the island, and hopefully control the stray dog population, once a month, we host a community vet clinic that offers free exams, vaccines, and Heartworm tests as well as low-cost medications and flea/tick/heartworm prevention. Free spay/neuter vouchers are also available.
In turn, all donations support Ruff Start STX Underdog Rescue and community programs.
