Abstract: My homebrew decoders provide feature rich telemetric data that is sent real-time via Railcom.

Common

All my decoders provide these common features,

  • DCC (Rail Community), DCC-A (RCN-218) and my DCC-R protocol  extension
  • Railcom (RCN-217)
    • Channel-1, Channel-2
    • jitter free
    • TTS1/TTS2 timing adjustable via CV
    • POM/xPOM
    • always-on programming address ‘long-3’ (RCN-217)
    • DYN: speed, QoS, temperature, track voltage, distance travelled
    • DYN (Custom): see individual decoders
  • service mode programming (RCN-216)
  • automatic LOGON via DCC-A or DCC-R
  • on-board buffer capacitors
  • inrush limited
  • EMF regulated motor driver (20/40/80kHz)
  • short circuit and over temp protection
  • coupler motion automation
  • servo support
  • firmware update anywhere on main tracks via DCC-R
  • dimmable lights (1.4kHz PWM)

PCB decoder

All circuit board decoders are designed to fit exactly one locomotive model.
