As well as the images already linked to on the RMWeb site (see previous post) here are a few more – if anyone else has images that we can use or link to then please leave me a comment and i’ll add a link in.

My handful of pics of the layout are now online at the layout construction collection on fotopic: http://modelrailpics.fotopic.net/c735837.html

  1. This is a great view:

I’ve always wanted one of those water towers but Walthers model is like 2/3rds scale size.

  2. That’s the Walthers one, as you say it’s a bit on the small side, but was the only one of that style on the market when we got it – there’s since been another one released that looks pretty good – the ‘tank’ part of it is certainly larger: http://www.walthers.com/exec/productinfo/632-2905.

Oh – the reason it’s yellow – a little bit of american cheese, should brighten the day:

We did have a suggestion that it had a smile on one side and an angry face on the other, and we turn it round if the layout isn’t running well…

We need to get an older water tower to be swappable as well, as those sort I think are only really applicable from the 70’s on.

That is too awesome not to do.

I love those smiley faces but I don’t recall seeing them painted that way out of Chicago. I’m sure they exist though.

  4. Looking at that Roadside America page there’s almost a ‘smiley face belt’ through Michigan-Indiana-Illinois-Wisconsin, with an occasional one in other states….

Don’t know wether that means the locals are naturally happy or just need cheering up though. 😀
