Frequently Asked Questions
About Padel Certification

What exactly is padel and how does it differ from other racquet sports?

Padel is played on an enclosed court about one-third the size of a tennis court, with walls that are in play (similar to squash). It uses solid paddles and a depressurized tennis ball, and is typically played as doubles. Our certification program covers all these unique aspects and their teaching implications.

Do I need extensive padel playing experience to get certified?

While some familiarity with the sport is helpful, our Instructor program is accessible to racquet sports professionals who are new to padel. We provide comprehensive training in the fundamentals of the sport as part of the certification process.

Is there really a market for padel in the United States?

Absolutely. Padel is experiencing rapid growth, with hundreds of courts being built across the country. The sport's accessibility, social nature, and lower physical demands compared to tennis make it appealing to a broad demographic, creating substantial teaching opportunities.

How does RSPA padel certification compare to international padel certifications?

Our program incorporates best practices from established padel markets while adapting to the unique needs of the American market. We collaborate with international padel experts to ensure our certification meets global standards while addressing the specific challenges of introducing the sport in the US.

Can I teach both tennis and padel with RSPA certification?

Yes! Many RSPA professionals are certified in multiple racquet sports. Members certified in one sport can add additional certifications at a reduced rate, making it cost-effective to expand your teaching versatility.

Will certification help me find teaching positions?

As facilities add padel courts, they're actively seeking qualified instructors. RSPA certification demonstrates your commitment to professional standards and teaching excellence, making you a more attractive candidate for these emerging opportunities.

How do I stay current as padel evolves in the US market?

Your RSPA membership includes access to continuing education specifically focused on padel. We regularly bring in international experts to share insights and best practices as the sport develops in the American market.

Are there opportunities to connect with the international padel community?

Yes. RSPA maintains relationships with padel organizations worldwide and provides opportunities for our certified professionals to participate in international exchanges, workshops, and educational events.
