In case people actually still watch for updates (doubtful), I use this journal as a self reflection private journal for myself.

Join us in standing up for reproductive health and education. Planned Parenthood, the organization that delivers reproductive health care, sex education and information to millions of people worldwide, has come under fire in the U.S. lately, with many politicians on both state and federal level seeking to end funding (and in a few cases succeeding).

During the month of May, you can send a specially designed Planned Parenthood vgift to your friends to help support this cause. (And if you need someone to send it to, frank is always happy to receive gifts!) There are three variations ($1, $5 and $10) for you to choose from, but they'd all look good on your profile when your friends know that you stand by something so important.

Thank you all for your help in our support for Planned Parenthood. This promotion ends June 1, 2012; LiveJournal is not affiliated with Parent Parenthood. For more information about Planned Parenthood, please visit: http://www.plannedparenthood.org/

Baraka from Mortal Kombat, hands down!

No one would fuck with me.. then again I probably wouldn't have any friends, so I'd have to count on Baraka's winning personality.

aaanndd if that didn't pan out I'd take the whole cast of Bust a Groove because who needs real life when you can have EPIC DANCE BATTLES ALL DAY LONG.
Which video game character would you like to have as your real-life BFF? One random response will win a $60 Amazon gift card! [Full contest rules here.] Don't forget to share your favorite gamer moments on at 3 p.m. PST for Free For All Friday (FFAF).

Most of my home projects are me getting into the groove of being greener. Leaving tampons and pads behind was one of the biggest things I figured that would save me lots of money a month, as well as less contributing to non-biodegradable trash.

So, I've been using some hand sewn cloth pads for awhile. I only made three, so a lot of the times I use them up before I can wash them... I had been hand washing them and letting them dry to reuse, but I figured that wasn't the most sanitary of routes. So, this Fall,   I decided, rather late in the season, that it was time for me to take the plunge and actually do some sewing!
I went online of course to find an easy tutorial. I came across this one, which appeared to be the easiest I could find, and also I liked the shape that created a "wing" affect.Even though I did not have any of these fabrics in my large scrap fabric pile, I went out and bought some. No, I did not go out to Joann's.. even though it's across the street from me, I thought first of the Goodwill. Of course they'd have plenty of baby blankets and towels readily usable for this project. So to the Goodwill I went! and did I strike gold. I happened upon the baby blanket section and found six different Tiddliwinks, same sized flannel blankets. I picked up a colorful towel and went home rather pleased with my finding.

I created three prototypes, not wanting to make a bunch, just in case they didn't absorb properly. I am happy to say they worked perfectly, and the picture above shows the ones that are in production.

I'm thinking I'd like to get some plastic lining to make a small pouch to keep them in, so when I need to switch out away from the house they won't create an odor in my purse. Has anyone else had any experience with this?

Since I rarely use this journal anymore, and I still want to continue being an LJer, I'll be using it to keep track of crafting projects. Most of the communities I'm in fall under the crafty genre, so it seems fitting! Check back here for random projects I'm working on, from SCA, to natural living, to pure randomness.
