Bets on the roulette table
By placing bets in roulette, there are two types: on the table layout and the wheel sectors. These betting formats are commonly found in online roulette real money games USA and international platforms alike. Let's start with the first type, as this method is the most common and allows you to place classic bets in roulette. Bets on the roulette table are divided into two subtypes: outside and inside. As the name suggests, outside bets are placed on the outer edges of the table layout, that is, on fields outside the layout with numbered cells. Inside bets are placed within the layout with numbers from 0 (00) to 36. Here, bets can be placed directly in the numbered cell (straight-up bet) or at the intersection of lines of two, three, four, and six numbers.
In the table below, you can see all the parameters of outside and inside bets, as well as how to place these bets. The main difference between bets is that each covers a different number of numbers. Depending on the number of numbers covered, bets have different probabilities of winning, as well as payout ratios. The latter is a fixed value by which the player's bet is multiplied when winning, thus determining the winning amount.

Note that some bets have variable placement methods. For example, a street bet can be placed in combination with zeros, such as a street of 1-2-0 or 00-2-3. This bet is often called a Trio. Similarly, you can place a bet on four numbers in European roulette, which covers 0-1-2-3.
Bets on the roulette wheel (announced bets)
Let's move on to the second type—bets on the wheel sectors. Such bets are called Announced or French bets, as they originate from French roulette and were announced verbally. In short, announced bets allow you to place bets on segments of a sequence of numbers on the roulette wheel since it differs from the sequence on the table. There are four main types of such bets: Tiers du Cylindre, Voisins du Zero, Orphelins, and Jeu 0, each of which covers a certain segment of the wheel.
However, it is important to remember that the main feature of such bets is that when you bet one chip on a certain segment, it will correspond to a certain combination on the table. So, if you bet a certain chip denomination on a segment, the bet amount will be higher depending on the type of bet. For example, betting on Voisins du Zero will place seven separate bets, with a total of 9 chips. Below, you can see which bet combinations match the selected announced bets.
Announced bets are placed on a special field called the Racetrack, which completely imitates the sequence of numbers on the roulette wheel. To place a bet on the Racetrack, all you need to do is place a chip on one of the four bets listed above, after which the corresponding number of chips will be placed on the combination you have chosen. In addition to the four main types of bets, you can also place a so-called Neighbor bet on the Racetrack. You need to select the number of neighboring numbers. Usually, it varies from 2 to 9. When you bet on the number, an equal amount of selected neighbors on both sides will also be included in this bet. For example, by selecting 2 Neighbors and betting on number 9, two additional bets will also be placed on two neighbors to the right of number 9 and two to the left. As a result, the bet will look like this: 14-31-9-22-18. Accordingly, five straight-ups will be placed with the bet value you have chosen.
Popular custom betting combination
The bets that we have listed so far are almost always available in nearly all variants of the game. But there are still some bets that you may not find readily, and those are the ones we want you to know about and cover. There are three, in particular, that we wish to share with you:
Snake Bet
Snake Bet is a bet that zig-zags around the roulette wheel and covers 12 numbers in total, including 1, 5, 9, 12, 14, 16, 19, 23, 27, 30, 32, and 34.
Finals en plein
Finals en plein is a type of bet that means you are betting on all numbers that end with this number. This means that you are betting on 4, 14, 24, and 34 at the same time. Another good example is 8. Suppose you bet on a final 8 bet; you are wagering on 8, 18, and 28 at the same time. There are 10 Finals en plein betting options in total, including bets on numbers from 0 to 9.
Final Splits or Finals a Cheval
Unlike Finals en plein, there are 20 options for placing a Final Splits bet. In short, Final Splits allows you to place splits on combinations that end with the selected two numbers. For example, by selecting Final Splits 6/9, three splits will be placed, each covering numbers ending with 6 and 9, that is, a split on 6-9, on 16-19, and on 26-29. Placing a split bet on two cells of outside bets is not possible since these are two different types of bets with different odds and payouts. The only option where it is possible to place a bet at the intersection of two outside bets is the so-called Courtesy Line bet, which is placed at the intersection of the second and third dozens. This bet is available only on land-based American roulette tables and is designed so that players who do not reach the split on 0 and 00 can make it.
It is generally accepted that the so-called even-money bets, such as red/black, high/low, and even/odd, are less risky. The main reason for this is that they cover 18 out of 37 or 38 roulette numbers and accordingly have chances of winning close to 50%—specifically 48.60% in European roulette and 47.40% in American roulette.
The most volatile bets can be considered those that have the lowest chance of occurring and the highest payouts. Therefore, in this context, the most volatile bets can be considered Straight-ups and Splits. A Straight-up bet has a payout of 35:1 and a chance of occurring of 2.70% for European roulette and 2.60% for American roulette. A Split bet, on the other hand, has a payout of 17:1, and the chances are 5.40% in the European version and 5.30% in the American version.
