RotorLib FDM for MATLAB is a rotorcraft flight-dynamics solution that brings high-fidelity helicopter and VTOL modeling into the MATLAB and Simulink environment. It provides physics-based models of rotor systems and aircraft subsystems so engineers, researchers, and students can analyze, prototype, and test control strategies using familiar MATLAB workflows.
Key features:
- High-fidelity rotorcraft dynamics: models for main and tail rotors, inflow, blade-element aerodynamics, ground effect, vortex ring state, and translational lift.
- Subsystem modeling: engines, transmission, rotor-speed governing, and basic flight-control elements that can be customized or replaced.
- MATLAB/Simulink integration: callable APIs and ready-to-use Simulink blocks for building closed-loop simulations, running batch studies, and logging results.
- Real-time capable: supports fast, deterministic execution suitable for SIL/HIL setups and pilot-in-the-loop evaluations, depending on system configuration.
- Workflow support: parameter sweeps, optimization, system identification, and control design using standard MATLAB toolchains.
Typical applications:
- Flight-control law development and verification
- Handling-qualities studies and flight-envelope exploration
- Research and education in rotorcraft aeromechanics
- SIL/HIL and training-simulator prototyping
Requirements and platform support depend on the specific release and MATLAB/Simulink versions in use. For licensing, supported operating systems, and detailed model coverage, consult the product’s official documentation.
