august baby yeah!

So now we shift to August 12, which was a...Thursday! Taste the excitement.

8:40 a.m.

8:40 a.m. A little ashamed to admit this, but this earthquake woke me up. At 3:30 that morning -- though it wasn't much more than gentle rocking -- and I'd made a note to myself to look it up when I awoke. A 2.7?! I'm losing my edge.

Will update soon with actual life information. Things are busy -- some exciting, some annoying. But isn't that always the case?

uhhh, hi

I went to post my August 12 of 12, and I realized that I never posted July! The pictures were up on Flickr, but they just never landed here or on Twitter. Whoops. So we'll start with July 12, which was a...Monday.

8:39 a.m.

8:39 a.m. This is my office's Macbook. I had custody over the weekend to work on some video projects and make up hours.

Stay tuned for August!

wow

I haven't posted here since my last 12 of 12. And I also let my LJ paid account expire in that time too. It's been a long time since I started with LJ, so I'm certainly not going anywhere (I'll still need a place to whine and moan, of course). And I think most of you here already know that I'm on Facebook and Twitter MUCH more frequently. But I'm saying it again, just in case.

And with that public service announcement, we now move on to our June 12 of 12. Read more...Collapse )
Hey! It's finally my May 12 of 12! GET EXCITED.

[One photo had to be grabbed from my work camera, which just became difficult to do with a bunch of stuff on my plate. Which I may or may not be rocking, but that's for another post at another time.

12 of 12, april 2010

Yo yo yo, I've got your April 12 of 12 right here.

The first one at New Job. Get excited!Collapse )

sooo distracted

Y'all, I'm trying to do this while watching the meaty parts of the opening ceremony. This could end up missing large chunks of information, who knows?

So this was probably the most boring day in all of creation to document as part of 12 of 12. I woke up exhausted, went to work, proceeded to get really annoyed, buried myself in my never-ending to-do list until 7 p.m., then came home to eat some leftover pizza and do...this.

At least, though, this is the start of a three-day weekend. Amanda and I are going to Disneyland on Sunday, and then I'm taking Monday off for...shenanigans.

Before that, though...your February 12 of 12.Collapse )

Yeah, so, now it's like an hour and a half later, and I finally finished the post. Whoops.

I have much to tell you guys too. Tomorrow.

a break from the norm

If I hadn't been sick, this would have been a run-of-the-mill 12 of 12. However, I was in the thick of this weird chest-throat-head-cold thing (from which I'm still recovering), and whatever it is woke me up at 3:30 on January 12th and wouldn't let me go back to sleep. And this was after I'd already taken a sick day on Monday. So, instead, I shifted my 12th around and drove up to my office to grab stuff to do, then came back home to settle in on the couch and work from there.

And while I'm back at work today, apparently I still sound gross enough that people are chiding me for being here even though I feel much better! Whatevah.

6:26 a.m.

6:26 a.m. The emptiest I've ever seen a Coffee Bean. I may have been the first person to order all day.

The rest of 12 of 12: January 2010Collapse )

Merry Christmas...and everything else!

Whether you're celebrating Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, the solstice, Eid al-Adha or just waiting for the New Year, I hope this season has been and will continue to be joyous for you and yours!

a good day for taking pictures

We scheduled the Casa Descanso holiday party last night not because it happened to be the 12th, but because a lot of our friends are already going to be out of town next weekend. But it happened to work out well for our 12 of 12 selections this month. :-D

11:38 a.m.

11:38 a.m. Awoke on the morning of our Christmas party...to this. (And an LJ-EXCLUSIVE comment: The rain did make it difficult for a number of attendees to drop by, which I know includes some people reading this. We were pretty much expecting it all day; don't worry about it!)

More holiday cheer under here. Hey, that rhymes.Collapse )

ETA: Amanda's better pictures of the party are in her 12 of 12 here.

i must have an affinity for the drama

Up until 10 p.m., everything was going just fine. While getting a bunch of Christmas shopping done online, I watched highlights from the fall finale of Glee [OMG YOU GUYS!11!] as well as the amusing holiday episodes of The Office and 30 Rock.

And then, the storm hit.

1. While watering the Christmas tree, I angled the plastic cup I'm using this year up a little to get the last drops out. In the process of doing so, I applied a little pressure to the bottom branches of the tree...which was apparently enough to topple the whole damn thing over. At least it fell AWAY from me, but it was a serious "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" in slo-mo moment. Only two ornaments broke, and it's currently propped up against the front window until we can figure out what to do next. It stayed in the stand, for all the help it provided.

2. For about 20 terrifying minutes, I thought I had lost my grandmother's engagement ring. Later, I remembered that I took it off and stuck it in the pocket of my jeans when my hands were wet because...

3. On Wednesday, our landlord painted the bathroom that quassibly and I share. Same color, and you wouldn't even realize that anything had happened...except for the fact that an extra layer of paint on the door gives it an extra-tight seal whenever you close it. It takes pretty much all the force in my body to open my own bathroom door now, and we're having people over on Saturday night! We do NOT need anyone getting stuck in there, which is kind of a possibility.

Oh, and it's raining again. WATCH OUT.

Words to Live By

The real crime was the beard.

Live every week like it's Shark Week.

What Would Oprah Do?

I say we dance it out.

The Robert Downey Jr. of cookies.

That's what she said.

But some people don't want to see Harriet Tubman on a space train.

    1. I'm jealous of anyone with a work day that starts after 7:00 in the morning. Why would ANYONE choose a start time of 7:15 for high school students? WHY?

    2. You have teacher handwriting.

The Stanley Cup is one hell of a big cup! Looks like it'd need half the team to lift it!

    Enjoy your trip!
