So I'm not crazy about Facebook because of the lack of privacy but I miss all of my LJ friends and I think most are really on Facebook now. So what's the smart, keep your info private way to set up a Facebook acct?

About 2 or 3 years ago (has it really been that long?), I decided that spending so much time on-line might have been keeping me from making friends in "real life", so, reluctantly, I went cold turkey on LJ. Well, guess what? All that happened is that I ended up missing all of you terribly, losing touch, and being lonelier than ever. I'm sorry for being away for so long, and I hope you can forgive me, and let me back in.

Gaya and Catw - this is for you. *G* Great episode on South Park this week where some of the kids start a Vampire club, where they all pretend to be vampires. Problem is, the goths are pissed off because the vampires are stealing their looks. Heck, the goths are even being mistaken for the "vampires"!

Funniest part? When the vampire club brings in a new member and, to undergo the transformation... they take him to Hot Topic and put together a suitable outfit for him. *L*!!! Love it.

One minute ago I just saw Adam Busch (of the band Common Rotation, and also known for playing one of the Geeksome Trio in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer) on "The Sarah Connor Chronicles"!

A soldier from the future who's traveled back in time thinks she recognizes a traitor from the future who apparently has also traveled to the past. When her compatriot isn't sure whether or not to believe her, she goes out and comes back dragging... Adam!!!! He's playing Charlie Fisher... which is who the first guy refuses to admit being. Basically, Adam gets to play scared and confused by this all, as he sits strapped in a chair. (Okay, I'm a bit confused... is Adam the current Fisher, and the older guy from the future is the younger him? Oh, crap!!!! The compatriot is threatening to cut off the younger guy's finger. Ah... because he wants to protect his younger self. Cool.)

Tell me - is this still that movie that we saw clips of at various conventions? Do you remember the one I'm talking about? I don't quite remember the name of it... darn, it's driving me crazy. Anyway, I thought that it was also about the Rangers.

Sorry for my rambling, but I'm hoping somebody remembers the movie in question, and what happened to it.

At the end of the latest beach volleyball match played by Misty May-Kreanor and Kelli Walsh (did I get the names right?), I saw something that really impressed me: Kelli Walsh went around to each and every official/volunteer/judge/whatever from the host nation who was on the floor, shook their hand and thanked them very graciously and warmly. It was good to see somebody - especially somebody American - show that kind of kindness and graciousness. My respect for her, already very high for her athletic skills, really rose.

I got a great opportunity today to do something real and concrete to help others - and get paid for it! My company let us choose to help out in an organized day of volunteering, if we chose to. About 300 of us went to a school in one of the more disadvantaged area neighborhoods and painted the classrooms. It was fun, I got to do it with some great people, and we did a really good job; our classroom looked professionally painted. I'm really glad my company does this, and that what we did really accomplished something and wasn't just a feel-good activity.

But boy are my legs tired!

ETA yet again: Can somebody please explain what this "Podium Training" is that all the commentators keep mentioning? As in "Earlier today, in podium training, such-and-such happened". They... train to get on the podium for their awards? Or is this some gymnastics piece of equipment?

Okay, I'm going to give into my inner geek here, but does hearing these lyrics make anybody else feel like somebody is scratching fingernails on a chalkboard, because... they're just wrong? Or maybe you have a lyrics pet peeve of your own to add? Here I go:
