I’m Robin Scott – founder, operator, and builder of software ventures.
I started my career by skipping the traditional job route and bootstrapping my own business straight out of university. Since then, I’ve spent more than 15 years creating and scaling technology companies, working with open source software, and leading enterprise-level transformation projects.
Career & Ventures
- Silicon Dales – I founded Silicon Dales, a software development company that helps enterprises deliver large and complex projects. I remain a consultant and shareholder in the business today.
- Yorkshire.com – Through Silicon Dales, I led the acquisition of assets from Welcome to Yorkshire Ltd when it entered administration, and transformed them into Yorkshire.com (International) Ltd, where I served as Managing Director. Through Silicon Dales, we still own and control this business.
- Copiq – I co-founded Copiq, an AI-powered content engine that enables companies to generate and manage content at scale, with humans in the loop.
- NYSE-listed Transformation Project – Since 2024, I’ve been leading a multi-year transformation for a major education company listed on the New York Stock Exchange. This work allows me to apply years of open source experience to high-stakes, global initiatives in a sector that matters.
- As well as the above, I’ve created and exited many hundreds of web based brands from media to ecommerce, alongside my day-to-day work. Some of them are still running under new ownership, some are long since forgotten.
My Approach
I’ve always operated at the intersection of entrepreneurship and enterprise. I’m comfortable bootstrapping from zero, but equally at home running large international teams with millions in budget and responsibility.
Beyond Work
I’m currently based in the South of France, where I balance operating ventures, advising on large-scale projects, and raising a family. You might also find me speaking at open source or AI conferences — usually in the café, not under the spotlight.
