Dean never tries to hide them (wouldn’t know how to, anyway, Sam suspects), but sometimes Sam joins him in the bathroom to brush his teeth in the morning and Dean is staring in the mirror, eyes clouded, fixated on his throat. It’s all Sam can do not to touch the bruises himself as they leave little ridges on his skin. Sam doesn’t know what it is about it – but he supposes it’s simply control. There’s nothing else to it.
