“Grows Wild With Ginger And Ginseng”

My next adventure

in century-old untouched

lands – star anise*!

*(Star Anise, like ginger and ginseng, grow wild in the riverbottoms in not just Central Florida, but exporters of ginseng especially in Appalachia – North Carolina in particular – ship these medicinal/culinary delights to China.  Ginseng , especially is prized.  All three plants can be found in my home county.  I also grow galangal, a ginger-like variant especially prized by Thai cooks and gourmands. With my garlic, various hot peppers including Thai Bird and Thai Basil among others, Lemon Grass and both Papaya and Mango – when freezes are not a problem – I have a well-stocked garden larder for SE Asian culinary adventures.  Try subbing Habanero or Scotch Bonnets – some without the pith and seeds – as a partial replacement for Thai Birds.)
