“Have A Nice Lunch”

The day’s first warning

blares its tornado coming

an hour due southwest*!

*(sometimes warnings are just that – warnings.  I mind not the miss, nor the awful buzzing tone.  Do get a weather radio with warning alert – several and at least one portable – and turn on the alert.  Too few of us read – or write – for me to lose any.  Thus endeth the commercial (sermon). There will be no collection! For my friend Marine poet with few peers and haikuest wonderfullest bruce clay jewett…some of the damn thing can be tuned to earthquakes, too!)

“Lots Of Pockets”

tornadic weather

means knives, keys, wallet must go

into my best shorts!

“Lament The Last Landline”

cell phone is foolish

in ‘nado or hurricane:

towers will go first!

“Clouds Dance A Wheel” Tanka 115

These puffy white clouds

rotate about the center

of this Midwest field.

Three days later we will see

much darker stuff come to earth.

“2003 Passage Through Peril” Tanka 115

The tornadoes chased

us across all Tennessee

outlined by lightning

and scared radio reports

until past Lookout Mountain.
