Rhino.Inside for Revit, developed by Robert McNeel & Associates, embeds Rhino and Grasshopper directly inside Autodesk Revit to create a live, bi-directional workflow between advanced 3D modeling and BIM. Designers can use Rhino’s precise NURBS and SubD tools and Grasshopper’s visual programming to generate, edit, and automate native Revit elements, parameters, and documentation—without file-based exchanges.

Key capabilities include:

  • Real-time interoperability: Push and pull geometry and data between Rhino/Grasshopper and Revit in the same session.
  • Parametric BIM authoring: Drive walls, floors, roofs, structural elements, families, and more with Grasshopper definitions.
  • Geometry conversion: Turn complex Rhino forms into Revit Families or DirectShapes while managing categories, materials, and metadata.
  • Data management: Read and write Revit parameters, types, and categories; track elements and update them reliably.
  • Ecosystem access: Leverage the extensive Grasshopper plugin ecosystem for analysis, optimization, façades, and fabrication.

The result is a streamlined design-to-documentation workflow that reduces rework, preserves design intent, and brings computational design directly into a Revit-based BIM environment.

Requirements: Autodesk Revit for Windows and a licensed copy of Rhino (version 7 or later) for Windows.
