My Weekly Soundtrack 1/28/14

It’s been awhile……since I’ve done one of these posts.

In my defense, I’ve been busy…and lazy. Anyways, it’s time for me to force my music upon you once again. These are just songs that have been stuck in my head at one point or another during the past week. Let’s get on with the show!

Up first, the song that inspired the first line of this post. Here’s some Staind.

Second on this list is The Kill, by 30 Seconds to Mars.

Our third song for today is Away by Breaking Benjamin.

Fourth is Flaw with their song Recognize.

In the fifth spot is Green Day with their song Boulevard Of Broken Dreams.

Sixth is Classic Rock Song by Stephen Lynch.

Our last song for this week is Race Against Myself by The Offspring.

Well, folks, there you have it. Another week’s worth of music that has been floating around in my head. I know it’s not pleasant being in my head, but be thankful. You only have to be in there once a week. I’m in there all the time.

My Daily Soundtrack 1/22/2014

I know I normally do weekly soundtracks, but today was a little odd. Around here, it’s been rather cold lately. This morning, before I left for work, the news said that, with the wind chill, it was supposed to get down to -6 today. I don’t mind a little cold, but -6 is just a bit much for me. So, I went out and warmed up my car before I left.

After I got in my car and started driving, the song on my CD changed. I have a burned disc in my player, set to play on random. This is the song that played.

I kind of chuckled at it, thinking it was the perfect song title for the morning. Then, on the way home, the last song that played before I got there was this.

I’m starting to think that even my radio was telling me that -6 is too cold to be outside in.

Song Stories: Tonight

A long time ago, back when I worked with Newb, we were allowed to bring in our own music and listen to it as we worked (which was awesome. I wish I was allowed to do that now). Most people brought in whatever they wanted and it was no big deal. My work station, however, was near Old Lady Security Guard.

For those of you who never read that particular post, Old Lady Security Guard is a very religious woman who once tried to get me in trouble with my bosses by telling them I was a devil worshipper because I listen to bands like Metallica and Avenged Sevenfold. Needless to say, she was not my favorite person.

Anyways, I had loaded a bit of my music onto the computer there so I could listen to whatever I wanted. After the aforementioned run-in with OLSG, I tried to find all of the songs on there that had cussing in them so I could delete them. I missed one….

I’m not sure how I missed that one, but I did.

That song played as I was in the middle of something, so I forgot that I was supposed to turn it off and delete it. Sure enough, before the song was over, OLSG had brought my boss over there and was complaining. It wasn’t until that point that I was even aware of what song was playing because I was concentrating on my work project. I hit the next button and deleted the song really quick. I apologized and promised it wouldn’t happen again (which it didn’t).

That wasn’t good enough for OLSG. She went on a rant for a few minutes about how all I listened to was offensive music and that I shouldn’t be allowed to listen to anything at all. By the time she was finished her inane babbling, a new song came on. It was the song Tonight. Eager to get in one last parting shot, OLSG pouted, “This song is offensive too.”

At that statement, I couldn’t help myself. I started laughing.

Both OLSG and my boss were confused. “What’s so funny,” she demanded.

Ignoring her, I turned to my boss and told him, “Just listen to the lyrics yourself and see if you think it’s offensive.”

You see, it wasn’t the Seether song Tonight. It was the Kutless song Tonight. For those of you who don’t know who Kutless is, they’re a Christian rock band. My boss started listening right towards the end of the first chorus, so he heard all of the second verse.

Even he had a tough time not laughing after hearing that. OLSG’s face went white. He promised to take care of it and she walked away. After she was out of earshot, he told me, “That was awesome. It was so cool seeing her knocked down a peg.”

He stood there BSing with me for a few minutes as I went through the rest of my music looking for songs with “bad” words in them (What OLSG didn’t know is that I worked with my boss’ wife for years at Hellmart and she loved me. He liked me too, so he gave me a lot more slack than any of the other temps got). I found a couple more that I had missed and deleted them. After that was done, he stayed down there for another 10 minutes while we talked about the Reds (He’s a baseball fan), his kids, and the coming of Baby E (This was just after we found out that Mrs. Revis was pregnant). The whole time OLSG was shooting us death glares.

My boss was definitely right. It was very cool seeing OLSG knocked down a peg.

My Weekly Soundtrack: 12/10

The past couple of weeks, I’ve been doing a soundtrack based simply on genre. This week, I’m going back to basics and just going with songs that have been stuck in my head at some point during the past few days. Hopefully, you’ll enjoy them.

Up first is Unraveling, by Sevendust.

Our second song is Better Think Again, by Submersed.

There might be some subtext in this song, but, if there is, it’s too subtle for me.

Fourth is a song by Chevelle called Mexican Sun.

It’s been a while since I’ve done a Stephen Lynch song, so here’s one that popped into my head after watching a Christmas special.

Here’s a song by Dark New Day called Evergreen.

Last for this week is Disturbed with their song, Serpentine.

Well everyone, that’s it for this week’s soundtrack. As always, I hope you enjoyed the music and wish you all a good week.

My Weekly Soundtrack: 12/3

As I stated in my last weekly soundtrack, I will be filling this week’s up with country music. Now, it has been a long time since I listened to country music regularly, and, even then, it was kind of against my will. During my freshman, and half of my sophomore, year in high school, our bus driver always had the radio on the country station, and we had a 30-45 minute bus ride each way.

A few years later, when I moved out from living with my parents for the first time, my roommate listened to country. So, I picked up a bit from him. Since then, my country listening has been sporadic. Because of this, most (if not all) of the songs on this list will be from the 90s. I will also try to not have the whole list be Garth Brooks. I may, or may not, be successful.

Let’s get on to the music.

Up first today is Tell Me I Was Dreaming by Travis Tritt.

Our second song is Midnight In Montgomery by Alan Jackson.

This is the song that was the first dance at my wedding. Here’s George Strait with I Cross My Heart.

Fourth is Toby Keith with How Do You Like Me Now.

Up fifth is John Michael Montgomery with How Was I To Know.

Sixth is Everywhere by Tim McGraw.

Our last song for this week is When You Come Back To Me Again by Garth Brooks.

Well, my friends, there you go. For those of you who like my normal lists, I will be returning to them next week. I just felt a little bit of a change up was necessary. Hopefully, you liked what you heard. Until next time!

My Weekly Soundtrack 11/26

Anyone who has gone though any of my soundtracks has probably noticed that almost all of the songs I put on my lists are rock songs. That’s not because I dislike all of the other genres. It’s just because I like rock the best.

However, since I haven’t done a good job of showing off my eclectic side, I’ve decided to do a couple of rock-free lists this week and next. This week will feature rap/hip hop/ r & b songs. Next week will be an all country list.

Now, onto the music!

Up first is Boyz II Men, with End of the Road.

Second, we have Swizz Beatz, with It’s Me, Bitches.

Our third song this week is I Got 5 On It by Luniz.

The fourth song is by B-Rock & The Bizz called My Baby Daddy.

Fifth is the song Petrified by Fort Minor.

Up sixth is the Beastie Boys with Intergalactic.

Our last song for this week is Nobody Knows by The Tony Rich Project.

Well, there you go, my friends. It’s a little peek into a different side of me. As always, I hope you enjoyed the music and I hope you have a good week. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

My Weekly Soundtrack 11/19

It’s time for everyone’s favorite segment! No, it’s not Blunt Life Coach….It’s not one of Jaded’s posts either…

Hmmm…well, since you have to settle for one of my posts, I shall try to entertain you with some of my music.

Up first is a song from the first half of my namesake, Revis. Here’s their song, Reuse.

Next, we’ll listen to a song by the other part of my namesake, Edgewater. Now, it’s time for Circles.

Third is Burden of a Thought, by Epidemic.

The fourth song of the night is Show Me a Sign, by Breaking Point.

Our fifth song is Happens All the Time by Cold.

In the sixth spot tonight is Earshot with Wait.

Finally, we have Tool with their song, Schism. HEHEHE….I said ‘ism’.

That’s all for now, my friends. Sorry it’s not as interesting as what the other authors put up here. At least this gives you something to do in between their posts.
