“Portraiture through Clay Sculpture, Drawing and Painting” (Wednesday evenings)
Learn how to draw realistic portraits and explore portraiture through clay, drawing and painting with gouache.
Class will learn anatomy, proportions and the placement of features of a head. Students will move from 3-D dimensional work with clay, to refined pencil drawings and then finally to painting a portrait. Learn the 4 most common mistakes everybody makes when drawing/painting a portrait. We will work with visual aids – including a skeleton. The final part of the class - students will be painting a portrait using opaque water based paint - gouache.

Teen Art & Drawing Workshops (Alternate Saturdays)
“Anatomy of a Portrait with Clay & Pencil”
Learn the proportions or the head, details of the features, and the 4 most common mistakes made with a portrait. The class will learn to make a 2D drawing of a head and make a head out of clay.

“Beginning Drawing”
Using pencils, students will learn the vocabulary and the basics of drawing. Learning values, shadows, how to measure using only a pencil, positive negative space and the straight-line method.

“Learn to Paint with Gouache”
Students will learn how to use gouache – find the common mistakes when using gouache and overcome them. We wlll make a color wheel, learn how to mix colors without making mud. Class will paint a small still life.

“Color Theory with Gouache Paint”
Students will learn how to mix colors, learn values, intensity, warm cool combinations. They will learn how to make an object come forward in a painting or recede. How to have a balanced painting by using complementary colors. Class will make a color wheel as well as a value chart and paint a small still life.

“Drawing Lifelike Portraits” (42407) (Afternoons -Thursday/Friday)
In this course, students will learn how to draw an accurate portrait using the methods of master artists. In a fun-filled, casual atmosphere, people will learn the basics of portraiture to draw friends and family. There will be demonstrations and group as well as individual instruction.
