About REFLECT

Dr. Vince Bruni-Bossio is currently the Vice-Provost, Strategy Realization at the University of Saskatchewan and is an Associate Professor at the Edwards School of Business. As a teacher, he is devoted to the practice and scholarship of experiential learning, dedicating exceptional amounts of time, energy, and enthusiasm to ensure his students obtain real world knowledge and skills. Through experimentation in the classroom Vince has also developed multiple curriculum and pedagogy innovations published in various journals. As an educational leader, he has walked with colleagues through change and transition by fostering psychological safe spaces for discussions and listening and responding to all voices. Core to all his work, is the idea that relationships with students and colleagues must be developed authentically with care and attention and always preserved.

Ann is a cave microbiologist and microbiology educator whose lifelong passion is to understand microorganisms that live in extreme habitats, their behaviors and interactions, and their benefits. As an educator, Ann’s mission is, not only to instill but, to ignite curiosity and bridge the relevant knowledge to the real world applications beyond the classrooms.

Vijay Daniels is an Internal Medicine specialist, Clinician Educator, and Professor of Medicine at the University of Alberta. Vijay is a well-recognized teacher and educator with over 35 awards for educational excellence including three national awards. Vijay currently has two main administrative roles, Assistant Dean, Assessment for the MD Program and Associate Chair, Education and Faculty Development for the Department of Medicine.

Sean is currently Assistant Dean of the Northern Medical Program, a
distributed medical education site run in partnership between UBC and
UNBC. He’s been teaching in the medical program since 2007. He thinks
teaching is the hardest and most important thing that university faculty do. He is passionate about advocating for the health of northern, rural and Indigenous peoples. He is the provincial lead for the Healthcare Travelling Roadshow that strives to help build the rural health workforce.

Scott is a Professor of Chemistry at the University of Victoria. His teaching interests are focused on getting large classes engaged, enthused and thinking through active learning. He is a keen amateur maker who has integrated this passion into both classroom and laboratory settings.

Eve Pouliot is a professor in the Department of Human and Social Sciences at Université du Québec à Chicoutimi. Co-holder of the VISAJ Research Chair, her research focuses on vulnerable youth and families, particularly in the context of disasters and abuse. She is interested in parental roles and socio-judicial interventions for families. She also conducts projects related to university pedagogy.

Fiona is a Professor, Teaching Stream, at the University of Toronto Mississauga in the Department of Biology and the Institute for the Study of University Pedagogy. Her research focuses on the science of learning, learning through failure, science misinformation, and public communication of science.

Dr. Awneet Sivia is the Associate Vice President of Teaching and Learning at the University of the Fraser Valley. She oversees a team of 15 faculty and staff who offer online instructional support, targeted workshops, and faculty communities of practice to enhance teaching and learning across the institution. Awneet promotes the broader goals of a teaching-intensive institution through strategies, initiatives, and projects to ensure a positive educational experience for all members of the university. Her scholarship and research focus on diversity and social justice, science education, curriculum and pedagogy, and leadership theories.

Pamini Thangarajah’s research interests include algebra, representation theory, mathematics education, and data envelopment analysis. She led the development of minors in mathematics and mathematics for elementary education and has developed successful courses for these programs. She has authored widely used digital open educational resources (OER) and co-organized significant events like the Alberta Mathematics Dialogue. Pamini’s commitment to education has been recognized through numerous awards and grants,

Additionally, she has a passion for empowering and promoting underrepresented groups in STEM, for which she received NSERC Promo Science grants.

My name is Christina! I graduated from UTM last year with an Honours Bachelor of Science, having had the privilege of being part of the FLIP team for three years, and am currently completing a Masters of Speech-Language Pathology at Western University. This team is truly exceptional and to be a part of it is an experience I am continuously grateful for. I hope that this research continues to resonate, inspire, and motivate students, faculty, and anyone who encounters it, the way it does for me.

Peter joined the 3M REFLECT project because he firmly believes that in teaching, “if you are not moving forward, you are moving backward.” He advocates for evidence-based and community-focused pedagogy, emphasizing the importance of enhancing teaching practices through educational research, student feedback and consultation, and self-reflection.

Sebastian is a researcher and engineer for metaLAB (at) Harvard within the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University. He also works as a research collaborator for the Data Nutrition Project. He holds a Master of Science in Social Science of the Internet from the University of Oxford and a Bachelor of Information from the University of Toronto.
