An economy that works.
For everyone.
We invest in businesses that reveal and reinforce the talent of people breaking through barriers to employment.
We call these businesses employment social enterprises (or ESEs, for short).
When ESEs succeed, they redefine who and what is worthy of investment. Our goal is to help that success ripple outward—creating a halo effect that reaches communities across the country. To do that, we focus on three strategies: building strong ecosystems, building the field, and building the evidence behind what works.
From Individual Impact to Systemic Change:

Building Ecosystems
We're building thriving regional ecosystems with a disciplined, learning-centered approach that starts with deep investment in three regions, each testing a different pathway to systemic change.

Building the Field
We're investing in and building the field, while bringing in new partners — including traditional employers who are adopting ESE practices and helping drive broader change.

Building Evidence
By investing in promising models, we’ll learn which practices best help people build economic power — and share what works so others can adopt it.

Economic Power
We're excited about the fact that Redefine Alliance is so intentional about partnering with employment social enterprises to ensure that folks that are otherwise overlooked in our society really have a chance to achieve economic mobility.
It's incredibly exciting to see what Redefine Alliance has accomplished since its origin, what they are doing right now to deepen their impact within populations in communities that need access to employment and opportunity most, and the incredible vision for where they want to take this network going forward.
Through support of employment social enterprises, Redefine Alliance helps create supportive job opportunities for individuals facing the most barriers to work. By investing in people and the enterprises that employ them, Redefine Alliance is able to foster inclusive work environments and long-term change.
