Crystal Reddy is the creative force behind Reddy Made Cakes, a business built from her lifelong passion for baking and her dedication to creating handmade, high-quality desserts. Her journey began in high school during a co-op placement at a hotel, where a kind and talented cook named Julie introduced her to the art of cake making. Though Crystal admits she was new to the kitchen then, Julie’s patience and skill inspired her to explore baking more deeply.
Her first cake—a baby shower surprise for her best friend—was made with a boxed mix (something she now adamantly avoids), but decorating it sparked an indescribable joy. That moment set her on a path to culinary school, where she initially excelled in cooking more than baking. However, after several failed attempts and plenty of persistence, Crystal mastered the craft, developing her own creative and heartfelt approach—the “Reddy way.”
Culinary school became the foundation for Crystal’s success. She participated in professional competitions, gained valuable experience, and eventually worked alongside a French pastry chef at a camp, learning through determination and enthusiasm. Those experiences strengthened her passion and shaped her unique baking philosophy: every creation deserves time, care, and love.
In December 2010, Crystal relocated from London, Ontario, to British Columbia, seeking new opportunities and adventures. She’s proud to call BC home and continues to bring joy to others through her handcrafted cakes and baked goods. Crystal values personal connections with her customers, treating them like family and collaborating closely to bring their ideas to life. Inspired by her grandmother’s from-scratch baking and focus on natural ingredients, Crystal pours pride and passion into every Reddy Made Cake, ensuring each one tastes as good as it looks.
