Unfortunately, not. Plastic products need to meet a few requirements before they’re able to be recycled. These are 1) the products need to be designed for recycling and 2) there needs to be recycling infrastructure. When we talk about infrastructure we don’t just mean places where the plastic gets sorted and recycled. We also need consumers to help us by recycling our products, and for more brands to use this same material stream to create new and similar products. One of the reasons some types of plastic can’t be recycled is that there’s no market for that particular plastic. It’s best to check what plastics your curbside collection allows for.

The glue on product labels usually impedes recycling, so we’re using alternative adhesives that make label removal and product recycling easier. We also partnered with How2Recycle to create simple and clear recycling instructions for all of our Bistro plastic containers.

How2Recycle is a labeling system that makes recycling instructions easy for everyone! It includes a coalition of forward-thinking brands who are all united in using smart packaging labels to empower consumers to recycle better. 

Recycling Bistro Bowls is easy!

1. Plastic bowl: discard seal and rinse the bowl
2. Plastic tray: rinse and recycle
3. Plastic cup: do not recycle
