Mentoring can change lives and shape careers by connecting our expansive network of members. No matter your experience level, your insights are invaluable to others navigating their surgical careers, and the RCS England platform makes the mentoring experience simple and flexible.
Mentoring can help you improve your skills and performance, create a sense of belonging and understand how to progress at specific points in your career, such as during change or at key progression points. Mentorship is also particularly beneficial for those from underrepresented groups, providing targeted support to those who may struggle to identify the right role models for their circumstances and for junior trainees to inspire them in their future careers.
We believe effective mentorship can lead to better working environments and ultimately, better patient care.

Our Programmes
Women in Surgery
The ratio of male to female consultant surgeons in the UK is approximately 8:1, and we are on a mission to change that. This programme aims to support women and non-binary people at all stages of their surgical careers.
SAS (Specialist, Associate Specialist and Specialty) doctors
SAS doctors and Locally Employed Doctors (LED) are integral to the UK workforce. This programme aims to support SAS doctors at all stages of their careers.
Trainee and Resident Doctors
This programme aims to support all trainees, from foundation doctors taking their first steps towards a surgical career, through to those in ST8 or senior clinical fellowship roles.
