Our Story
In 1946, Edward G. Robinson started a heating and air business. His son, Frank, started working at his father’s shop at a very young age, and eventually took over the business after returning from Vietnam in the mid-1970s. In 1979, “Frank incorporated Robinson Mechanical Contractors, Inc., which later began operating under the DBA Robinson Construction Company. During the early years of Frank’s tenure, the company completed various projects that required mechanical expertise. When the City of Perryville initiated a project for new sewer lines, Robinson won the bid, which led to many other municipal projects over the next two decades.
In the mid-1980s, Toyoda Gosei (TG) established its presence in Perryville. Robinson was awarded a part of the mechanical work that was given to the general contractor. As TG started expanding, Robinson became their preferred general contractor. This led to the construction of most of TG’s one million square feet of space in Perryville over the next thirty years. We were required to do a lot of design work for TG, which resulted in hiring professional engineers in the mid-1990s. Eventually, industrial work and design-build work became our primary source of revenue.

Today
Robinson Construction continues to meet the rigorous demands of the industry as well as the high standards set by the clients through self-performing more and more trades in construction.
National Growth
During the early 2000s, Robinson began working for some of the largest corporations in America and gradually expanded its reach across the country. By 2010, the company had undertaken projects in the majority of U.S. states, from California to New York. Given the high level of project controls, intensity, and standards required by these Fortune 500 companies, Robinson had to significantly enhance its approach to safety, quality, and project scheduling. To meet these rigorous demands, the company had to start self-performing more and more trades in construction, as most subcontractors were unable to produce to the required standard set by the clients.
Our growth and longevity have allowed Robinson Construction to complete many exciting projects, work for some amazing clients, and reach many milestones along the way.
