It’s been decided. On October 20th, 2010, we will wear purple in honor of the 6 gay boys who committed suicide in recent weeks/months due to homophobic abuse in their homes at at their schools. Purple represents Spirit on the LGBTQ flag and that’s exactly what we’d like all of you to have with you: spirit. Please know that times will get better and that you will meet people who will love you and respect you for who you are, no matter your sexuality. Please wear purple on October 20th. Tell your friends, family, co-workers, neighbors and schools.

RIP Tyler Clementi, Seth Walsh (top)
RIP Justin Aaberg, Raymond Chase (middle)
RIP Asher Brown and Billy Lucas. (bottom)

REBLOG to spread a message of love, unity and peace.

People who support gay marriage rights are snapping their own photo showing their wedding rings on their middle fingers - Read about it Here. If you do it, add your link to the list (I'm #157)

I can't be as eloquent as I'd like, but Keith Olbermann said everything I'd like to.

Copy this sentence into your livejournal if you're in a heterosexual marriage, and you don't want it "protected" by the bigots who think that gay marriage hurts it somehow.

Rosh Hashana and Eid ul-Fitr happen side by side this year, even overlapping. A New Year, and a Festival of Joy and thanks. Seems pretty harmonic, doesn't it? To me, this says it really is time that people learn to accept each other. Let's start the new year with peace, and keep it as such for a long time to come.

Stop the hate. Coexist. Let's have Peace for a change. U2 put it well. 'We're all sons of Abraham'.

When things like this happen, it just breaks my heart. Why? I just.... kiri_l wrote copied a post about it far more eloquently than I here.

[kiri_l asks: "If you support the right of everyone to peacefully worship as they believe, whether or not they believe as you do, please post this in your journal." - I'm gonna put it in a box for easy cut and paste coding - you'll need to add a < / textarea> to the end, the box cut it off for some reason.]

</textarea>

May we all be written and sealed for a good year. Have a happy day! :)

After 21 hours of back labour, because the stubborn little girl decided she wanted to do things her way - Stealthbit was born at 11:51 PM, healthy, whole, and happy :) She's adorable, and I'll get pics up when I can. Elfbit and Wigglebit think she's awesome, and that makes me so happy - I'm so high on mommyness right now, haha! (that or having been awake for 26hrs, with little cat naps since then :) )

I'll write up more about it when I'm more coherent - but I wanted to let y'all know she's born, and we're all fine! :)

The band Five for Fighting is generously donating $0.40 to Autism Speaks each time THIS VIDEO is viewed. The funds raised will go towards research studies to help find a cure for autism. When you have a moment, please watch this informative clip, featuring touching photos of a beloved daughter and her family.

Please, PLEASE watch the video, have your friends watch it, families, post this to your journals. My daughter isn't technically Autistic, but she has something that's just a bare step above it. I am thankful every day that she is (albiet slowly) learning to communicate. I think she's roughly at the level of a three year old, now (she turned Five today), and that only because she's gotten Early Intervention for her Developmental Delay. I worry every day that she'll never catch up, and my heart breaks for all the friends I have who have children who have Autism, or work with children who do. It's so difficult - and the thought that people ignore this very real, horrible thing, devastates me. There are insurances who refuse to pay for Much Needed Therapy to help these kids. The earlier it's caught and they get the therapy, the better chance they have of leading more full, interactive lives with the world around them. Every day counts, and there are so many who are slipping through the cracks because they are just that. So Many. Please do what little you can, watch the video, watch it lots of times, leave it running in the background, get other people to watch it, donate to your local or state Autism societies, learn more about this so you can help parents who have children who they love desperately, and who sometimes drive them absolutely crazy because they love them so much, and yet feel like sometimes they just can't get through.

Boy, that got longwinded. But I just.... It's been a rough day, a sick child who's got trouble understanding simple concepts that any other her age would - is so very difficult to deal with. I'm one of the lucky ones. Please help those who aren't.

Thanks.
